*Thank you 10 Karaköy for hosting me for two nights in Istanbul, Turkey
I stayed at luxurious, boutique hotel 10 Karaköy Istanbul for two nights and it was the best way to end my Istanbul journey.
Located in the burgeoning Karaköy district in the heart of Istanbul:
10 Karaköy draws its unique spirit from the past, present, and future of Turkey. The hotel is situated within a historic, neoclassical building that has been reinterpreted by architect Sinan Kafadar as a vibrant, 21st century destination for discerning international travelers. Whether it’s drinks with friends, or a conference suite with ravishing views of the city, 10 Karaköy delivers sublime service and magnificent style.
The hotel is situated within a historic, neoclassical building that has been reinterpreted by architect Sinan Kafadar. Upon entering the hotel, I was immediately drawn to the hotel’s lobby. The interior decor is out of the world and m eyes instantly turned towards the hanging lights and tall ceilings. I felt like I was entering into a hotel featured by a fashion magazine or Architecture Digest.
I stayed in the Deluxe Double Room and it was a perfect sized room that was clean and tidy for my friend and I. The best part about the room was definitely the bathroom. The mirrors had LED lighting and it was right by a window which offered natural lighting and fresh air. As a result, it was the perfect setup to do my makeup and get ready in the morning. I also can’t rave enough about how comfortable the bed was because I slept like a baby during my two nights. On the last night, we even cancelled our morning sightseeing plans just to get some extra sleep as our bodies really needed it.
The hotel also offered complimentary breakfast and took place at Brasserie Ten, which offered delicious local and international breakfast. It was served buffet-style with a variety of a-la-carte items available upon request. I always enjoy buffet style breakfast because I love trying a little bit of everything. To no surprise, Brasserie Ten was also very well designed and created a relaxing ambiance for me to enjoy my breakfast before conquering the day. The staff was very attentive and I felt extremely welcome and taken care of.
When I discovered there was a sky terrace, I knew I had to visit. It is located on the top floor right outside of BAHANE ON10, which is 10 Karaköy’s rooftop “meyhane” restaurant. You can order delicious “mezes” prepared by their Chef and admire the view from within. The terrace outside also breathtaking views of Historical Peninsula, the Golden Horn and Sultanahmet Old City. I didn’t have time to actually soak in the views, but it’s a perfect spot to relax and have a drink or snacks with your friends or by yourself!
(Considering the state of the world and US entry requirements of having a negative PCR test upon arrival, the hotel made the process smooth. When I arrived, I was able to make an appointment for the next day. Subsequently, I received my results the same day. It costed around $30, which I think is a very fair and appropriate price).
The selling point of this hotel aside from the beautiful decor is its location. It is walking distance from Galata Tower, Galata Bridge, Eminonu, Taksim and other main areas of Istanbul and is also very close to the tram (although I didn’t use the tram when I was there). I personally think location is a huge factor when it comes to accommodations. I love choosing places that are convenient to get around from. In addition, the other features that I also look for in a hotel are amenities, service and cleanliness. Keeping those in mind, 10 Karaköy exceeded all of my expectations with flying colors. In conclusion, I fell in love with Istanbul and I know I will definitely stay at 10 Karaköy Hotel again!
