As I grow older, I have become more mindful in my actions, feelings, environment and surroundings. With age and experiences, I have learned that self reflection plays a vital role in living a fulfilling life. Even though we are only midway through the month, I can confidently say that I am happy with how my year is starting out.
I want to use my blog as a platform where you can get inspired and motivated to live a happy, meaningful life. Mental health has been a topic that I keep going back to since it’s a theme that we can all relate to. Today, I will be sharing 5 ways to make this year more mindful:
- Do a self reflection at the end of every week or month: Too often we get sucked into our busy schedules whether that’s our full time jobs, family obligations or school requirements, so it’s easy to go from one day to the next without looking and analyzing how our day or week has been. I am guilty of this as well since I usually take on more than I should and stress myself with everything that’s on my plate. However scheduling a self reflection test at the end of every week or month is a great way for you to assess how your life is going.
- Set your intentions for the day: I love beginning my mornings by setting my intentions for the day because I have a clear objective. This also relates back to the first tip because we might rush into our busy schedules and forget to think about what our day should be like. I often use each day as a clean start so I try not to take any of my problems from the previous day to the next.
- Designate me time: Personally, I like to dedicate my me time in the morning and night. I love having a slower morning so I can fully be at peace with myself. I also go to the gym in the mornings and it’s a great way for me to get some endorphins in my system. Likewise, at night I like to unwind by doing absolutely no work. I think it’s okay to treat yourself to Netflix or your favorite show especially if you’ve worked all day.
- Write down what you’re grateful for: I’m sure we’ve heard this a million times but how many of you have actually done this? I have to admit that I don’t write down what I’m grateful for every single day because I do forget but I am trying to make this more of a priority. This task in particular forces you to use your mind and be appreciative of what you have. If you’re having a bad day, I find that this helps boost my mood because you realize that you have more to be thankful for than your problems.
- Be less judgmental: When you make the cautious decision of being less judgmental, you are then being more mindful. There are so many times when I act on impulse based on how others react to me or behave in public, but I have no idea what they are going through. We all have personal problems so it’s important to take a step back and not judge people. It’s obviously a challenge since it’s a natural action of all of us as humans but when we make this a priority, it becomes easier to be less judgmental.
Even after writing this post, I feel more at peace with life because it has been therapeutic to reflect on these 5 tips to be more mindful. I truly encourage you all to not be so urgent with your life and take a free moments to yourself daily to reflect, to assess and to be more mindful. Let me know if you have any other tips you think would be helpful!

I'm so glad you found this post helpful. I think we definitely forget to self reflect, but after a certain age, I think we do have the moment where we look back at our life and reassess our happiness and values!
What a lovely post, such a great reminder and tips on how to be more mindful. I intend to write more lists about what I'm grateful for! Xx

Thank you Olivia :) It's a great coat and very comfy too!
I totally appreciated your post. I've been thinking about starting to write things I'm grateful for. Will start tomorrow.
I love how cathartic blog writing can be. It definitely at times helps to shift thoughts I have been stuck on once I have published them and it's also pretty rewarding to learn other people are either feeling the same, have felt the same or that they are generally happy to have read your post. Some of these are things I do regularly and feel way more clear headed for it! Good tips!

I couldn't agree more with your comment. I find that every time I write a blog post, I tend to find my own advice helpful and I try to put them into action as much as I want others to do the same.
Aw such a lovely post babe!! All this tips are absolutely true and we should always take moments during our day to always be grateful.
Me time is also another important one. We always deserve a break for ourselves. Thanks for the reminder
xoxo

I'm glad you enjoyed this post dear. Taking time for ourselves does benefits for our health!
This is a great post. I think being able to be more mindful is a sure sign of maturity. I love your tip about setting intentions for the day - I've been writing down to-do lists almost every day so I don't forget to do things. It's really helping me keep track of things :)

There are a million things that run through my mind so jotting my priorities on my to do list helps me stay organized and on track!
Great post! I think it's a good idea to dedicate time to self-reflection, because often you only do it when something goes wrong and you're feeling down. Or maybe that's just me. In any case, I like your ideas. And that jacket is super cute!
I can understand why you might do it when you're feeling down because that happened to me last year when I was going through some phases in life, but we should do self reflection even during happy moments too!
I love the idea of doing a self reflection often and setting intentions for the day. I need to get better at both of those. Sierra~Beautifully Candid
I sometimes forget to set my intentions, but I am making it more of a priority this year.
Great tips! ;)
