I attended Domenico Vacca’s flagship launch event today and it was an incredible retail experience. The 10 story building on 5th avenue included retail, a bespoke atelier, an Italian bar and cafe, barber shop, beauty salon, rooftop terrace, private members only club and 30 long term stay furnished residential units designed by Domenico himself.
I was very impressed by all of the elements because Domenico successfully branded himself within the two floors. Everything was top-notch and felt/looked very fancy. The first thing I noticed was the back bar as I entered the door. The drinks were from Disaronno and the jars added a nice touch to the elegant bar. I thought it was appropriate and cute compared to regular boring bar glasses or cups. I had the ‘Dommenico Sour’ and it tasted amazing because it was sweet and I love sweet drinks!
I will admit I felt a little out of place only because I knew I couldn’t afford to shop there and most of his clothing was geared towards men, but I did admire all of the features. The event took you to Domenico’s world and I almost forgot it was a retail store, so I thought his team did a great job in putting it together. It was an event and experience within the building, which was a unique concept. Whether or not you can afford the clothing, I would recommend visiting the flagship on 15 West 55th Street just to experience Domenico’s world.
