Here’s a summary of the third part of my vacation. I tried to incorporate different activities including tourist attractions, food adventures, shopping and leisure throughout my 12 day trip. Part III actually covers activities that are recommended for those who are staying in Hong Kong for a good amount of time. I decided to dedicate my first half of my vacation on all the must see attractions, so part I and II were my priority, whereas these attractions and activities were my back up list for activities and things to do.

  • Macau: Macau is a small peninsula in mainland China and it’s known for its casinos. It’s basically the Las Vegas or Atlantic City in the United States. This isn’t a must see, but I think if you are spending at least two weeks in Hong Kong like I am, then this is a day trip worth taking just to get away from the city. You have to take a ferry that lasts about an hour to get to Macau, which is an experience in itself. There are ruins and attractions to see, but you definitely should go with a tour bus or find a personal tour guide like I did when I arrived. It’s difficult to actually explore Macau by yourself since the attractions are spread out. I had a great time and I’ve never been to Macau before, so it was great to check that off my list. However, if you don’t have time don’t worry because you’re not missing out on anything extraordinary.

  • Ocean Park: Ocean Park is a very popular amusement park in Hong Kong. I believe it’s the only amusement park aside from Disney Land. It’s no Six Flags by any means, but it’s fun if you go with your whole family. The rides are definitely dedicated to children, but there are a few roller coasters and rides that adults can enjoy too. This isn’t a must visit, but if you have kids or are with younger children, this would be a great place to take them to.

  • Hello Kitty Secret Garden: This is a cafe that is obviously Hello Kitty based. If you have no interest in Hello Kitty, then by all means disregard this suggestion. However, I was obsessed with Hello Kitty growing up and thought this would be a cute spot to check out. The food was mediocre, but the decoration was awesome. Everything was Hello Kitty themed including the lattes, waffles, toasts, etc. I enjoyed my visit and must admit it’s a great Instagram worthy place 🙂

  • Yum Cha HK: I didn’t know this place existed until I found the cute buns on DiscoverHongKong’s Instagram page. My friend also recommended this place since she was in Hong Kong a week earlier. It’s basically a restaurant that is known for its cute buns that have cream inside so when you poke it, the cream imitates vomit. I know this probably sounds disgusting, but it’s quite hilarious when you are actually witnessing it first hand. There are also buns in the shape of a pig, which is pretty adorable and unique if you ask me. I personally loved the food whereas my cousin and boyfriend though it was average. If you love taking pictures and going to places that are Instagram popular, then this would definitely be a good place to visit.

Overall my trip was amazing and I had the time of my life. I haven’t visited a country for this long in quite some time, so it was a vacation that will definitely go down in the books for me. I think the best part is having no care in the world. I didn’t have a schedule to follow and I did whatever I wanted. Sure, there was frustration here and there, especially when I got lost or the weather was rainy and/or humid, but those were things that I dealt with. Travel is something that I have a passion for because going to another country is an eye opening experience. I’ve learned things about myself that I didn’t know before and I have a better appreciation on life and its beauty. There’s literally so much out there in the world and I encourage everyone to travel if they get the opportunity to do so because the lessons, experiences and memories you gain from it are immeasurable.
