I make it a priority to read at least one book a month because I think it’s always great to unwind and stimulate your mind. I know we all have different interests and tastes in genre, but recently I’ve been into books that are meaningful and inspiring. I’m not talking about self help books although I have nothing against them. I’m talking about books that you read and you’c can’t help, but not in agreement or jot down a quote or some notes because you can actually relate to them. I’ve decided to list five must read books that I think are extremely beneficial and I promise they will change your mindset, outlook and attitude about life.
- The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg: I read this book in college and till this day, it is probably one of my favorite books in the world because he has a great insight to the concept of habit. I highly recommend everybody to read this because it talks about developing habits and I’m sure all of us want to get rid of bad habits and form new ones.
- How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie: This is an amazing book for those who want motivation either to get out of mental rut, conquer the world or be a more influential person. Carnegie outlines strategic methods on networking and building relationships and I think this is especially relevant for those who are fresh out of college and are getting into the “real world.”
- The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo: Don’t let the title fool you! This book isn’t just about cleaning and organizing. This book goes beyond the actual process of declutttering your home. Kondo teaches us the domino effect of cleaning your apartment/house and how this process relates to our lives. I have found this book to be a mental cleanse and I actually put her advice into action. I guarantee that you will want to tidy up your place and your life after reading this.
- The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman:Â After reading this book, I understand and look at relationships in a different light. I don’t think this everybody will enjoy this book, but I do think everybody can learn and benefit from reading this. There were a lot of explanations to the idea of “love language” and it really changed my perspective on my own wants and needs. This is extremely helpful for those who are in a relationship and I think it can help save and grow relationships, which is a priority in my personal life.
- You Are a Badass by Jen Sicero: This is the most recent book I read and I think every woman should pick this up. I’m sure you guys have heard of it since Jen Sicero is a best selling author. Although some of this may categorize this as a self help book, I really think it’s an inspirational and motivational book that helps to combat self doubt and encourage self worth. If you are unsure about a specific decision or fear is holding you back from doing what you love, read this book because Sicero is the voice and sign you are looking for that says ‘just do it.’
Have you guys read any of those books? What is your favorite book? I am always looking for new recommendations to add to my list!

Thank you Camille!
You look gorgeous, love that striped top! And thanks for the book suggestions. I usually read fiction books but these sound really interesting.
My favorite genre is fiction but I’ve been recently getting into more non-fiction and advice/inspirational books!
It’s great that you commit to reading at least one book per month! I try to but I don’t always get to it. I need to do a better job at making this a priority!

If I don’t make it a priority, then I definitely wouldn’t read, so setting that goal keeps me on track 🙂
These all sounds like good books. i used to read so many entrepreneurial self help style books, but it’s been awhile. I picked up a few fashion business style ones, like Girl Boss (by Sophia Amaruso, By Invitation Only: How we Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop (Alexis may bank), Delivering Happiness (Zappos), Leave Your Mark (by Aliza Licht), The Glitter Plan (about Juicy Couture) and Lean In – I’ve had for 3 years and still haven’t gotten around to it but is supposed to be very good. Those are some off the top of my head.

I love reading and haven’t done much lately, but I love hearing about new books for when I go on vacation so that I can read them on the plane. The love languages one is good as well as How to Win Friends, but I will definitely have to check out the others. If you want a good read too, Mindset is one that I’ve been reading. xoxo, Christine
