I’ve never done a Q&A before and thought it would be a great idea for you guys to get to know a little more about me. Last week, I took this idea to my Instagram (@mariann_yip) and had a great response so I wanted to answer 5 of the questions that were frequently asked or piqued my interest the most.
Q1: What’s your favorite thing about blogging?
A: I touched upon this in a few of my recent posts, but I definitely think my favorite thing about blogging is connecting with others who share the same interests as me. I have been grateful to meet so many creative and talented people and had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands. I love the fact that I am able to use blogging as my creative outlet and it has been a great platform to express my thoughts on fashion and beauty and share my pictures and travel experiences.
Q2: Do you blog full time? Do you have an agent?
This was probably the most frequently asked question and to put it simple, no I do not blog full-time (yet), but I am planning to do so really soon! I also don’t have an agent and I never really considered getting one. I am at the point of my life and blogging career where I want to hustle and grind into I get to the point of maybe needing help. I feel like I am still starting out and I am not at the level where an agent is required.
Q3: What made you start blogging?
I started my blog in May 2015 as a hobby because I felt like I needed a passion project. I have been taking pictures for years since I have a lot of photographer friends and genuinely always had an interest in fashion and writing. I thought it would be a great idea to start a blog on the side. I didn’t fully invest in it until January of this year because I fell more and more in love with the blogging industry and I realized that this was what I wanted to do for a living. Again, I am not blogging full-time, but I am definitely trying to work towards that goal soon.
Q4: How do you manage your time? How do you balance blogging and other aspects of your life?
This was another question quite a few of you asked and I think it’s quite easy for me because time management is one of my strengths. I was never a procrastinator at school. I was actually the annoying girl who always completed her essays and assignments days or even weeks in advanced. To be honest, I think I have an OCD problem because when I have a lot to do, I get anxious. For some reason, my mind has trained itself to block a certain amount of time and just do it. For example, with blogging, I shoot at least once a week. In two shoots, I already have enough content for a month. I also have blog posts drafted at least two weeks in advanced. I rather have too much than none at all. I have found the key to balancing blogging and other aspects of my life is to separate time for each of my priorities. For blogging, I plan and write everything out. I think when you can visualize your goals, you can be more accountable and motivated to accomplish them. As far as my personal life, I block out time to spend with my friends and family and I usually like to take a social media break on the weekends. It’s definitely a challenge, but I think I am managing it well so far!
Q5: What is your go to outfit?
I am all about comfort. If I can describe my style in two words, it would be causal chic. The outfit I am wearing in today’s post is a great example of my go to outfit. I have been obsessed with these plain black denim ripped jeans. I also like to pair them up with classic black booties and a nice top. At the moment, I am into oversized sweaters, turtle necks, or off the shoulder tops. Once I add some accessories and lipstick, I am good to go!
I hope you guys enjoyed this Q&A and thank you for all of those who took the time to ask me a question on my Instagram. I definitely plan on doing more of these so leave a comment below on a fun fact about yourself!
