MY 25TH BIRTHDAY

Today is my birthday and I turn 25! I have never done a birthday post before because I’m usually not the one to call attention to myself, but since this is a milestone year, I thought I’d take the opportunity to go over 25 things I’ve learned over the years. I am proud to say that I like who I am and of course there are still some areas of where I want to improve, but nobody is perfect. I have come to find myself over the years and it’s been an incredible journey even through my personal struggles and doubts. So without further rambling, here are my top 25 lessons in no particular order:

1. Never take things too personally.
2. Just let it go.
3. Always strive to live in the moment.
4. If you are unsure, ask yourself if it makes you happy.
5. Observe much, judge little.
6. Live to love.
7. Be grateful for everything and everyone you have.
8. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
9. Take a moment to control your emotions before acting upon it.
10. There is always a lesson in every failure.
11. Don’t let fear get in the way.
12. Never settle for less.
13. Never depend on anybody for anything.
14. Work hard, play hard.
15. Ask yourself if this will make or break you five years from now.
16. If you want something, make it happen.
17. Never make an excuse for yourself or somebody else.
18. Don’t compare yourself to others, only compare yourself to who you were yesterday.
19. If you aren’t growing, you’re doing something wrong.
20. Change is good.
21. Take risks, lots of them.
22. Happiness is a habit.
23. Be selfish.
24. It’s okay to be alone. It doesn’t mean you are lonely.
25. Appreciate what you have.

I will admit that I definitely got stuck once I hit 13 but I am happy with all of the lessons that I have learned over the years. Every experience is a learning opportunity and I know I will add more to my list. I have a great feeling about turning 25 and I think this will be the year where I will grow to become the woman I’ve always dreamed of.
