Staying on top of the news and latest trends is a priority that I make because I like to be in the know especially within the fashion and PR industry. As a blogger, I also think it’s important to be up to date on what’s going on in the world because it helps to curate content, write articles, pitch to brands, etc. I am making more of an effort to be active on Twitter, so if you have an account, feel free to follow me @mariannyip. If you’re not actively keeping up with the news, I suggest you make a Twitter account since it’s such an easy way to read what’s currently happening. If Twitter isn’t your thing, then definitely take an effort to visit the top websites and resources within your field. I promise it will benefit you in the long run!

I decided to do a quick recap of three trending stories this past week that really caught my attention.

  1. Barbie and Beyonce Collaboration: Yes, you read that right ladies! Marni Senofonte, the stylist behind Beyoncé‘s Lemonade visual album, teams up with Barbie to create the ultimate Girl Squad. I think the idea is brilliant and such a unique way to empower women to be confident because the denim collection features different body types and skin tones. Unfortunately, the collection isn’t for sale, but I love the message behind it. I know there has been controversy with Barbie’s job because she is portrayed to be a flawless figure who always looks put together and live a perfect life. This collaboration breaks the stereotype and offers diversity and that’s something that I support!
  2. Adidas 3D Printed Sole: Once I saw the word 3D in this article, I was intrigued! I can’t say I’m surprised since technology is always changing and there’s always innovations and ideas happening. Adidas announced Futurecraft, which is the term to describe the 3D printed soles. The process use light and oxygen, which will take customization to a whole new level for athletes. I am excited to see how much this will cost and what the public will think of it.
  3. Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino: So this isn’t breaking news, but let’s be honest, if you are a Starbucks lover, this definitely caught your attention! I am always down to explore different drinks and creations, so once I saw the photo and the name, I definitely wanted to make a trip to Starbucks and try it. I haven’t had the time to try this unicorn creation yet, but I am very curious to know how it tastes. If you ordered this drink recently, let me know what you think!
  4. Bath and Body Fizzies: I think it is safe to say that when people think of bath bombs, they automatically think of Lush. But this weekend, I just came across Bath and Body’s line of bath fizzies. What’s special about these these bath bombs is the scent. Do you guys remember the original Bath and Body work scents such as Warm Vanilla Sugar and Japanese Cherry Blossom? Well, Bath and Body has bath fizzies with the original scents. Check them out!

  5. $7 Foundation with 25,000 Person Wait List: We can all agree that there is usually a fine line between drugstore foundation vs. high- end foundations. I found out about this flawless Canadian based skincare brand called the Ordinary and I am freaking out over their inexpensive $7 foundation! Their serum and coverage foundation has brought huge light to their company, which is expected to launch in April, with a 25,000 people wait list already! I guess the product really lives up to its hype of being lightweight and full coverage. We’ll sign me up on that waiting list, ill be #25,001 in line for this new foundation.!

  6. Floral Lipsticks: Cherry blossoms are in full bloom and I am loving the spring vibe right now in New York City.  I think that flowers brighten up the day and it’s hard to be in a bad mood during this time of year. I’m sure some of you have seen these lipsticks over Instagram.  They look like a jelly lipstick with a beautiful flower at the bottom. If you know me, you know that I’m a lipstick gal, so I need to get my hands on these!

So there you have it! Those were the six articles that I enjoyed reading. I actually love the idea of recapping trending stories so I might do this more often. If you read an interesting article or trend, share it with me so I can check it out!

Stunning picture Marian!

I totally agree, keeping up with the latest trend via twitter is the quickest way to grasp our attention and also keep our eyes open to how quickly trends are going so fast! The new unicorn Starbucks drinks was a big HIT or MISS, definitely wasn’t what I expected!

Twitter is a great source for keeping updated. I have not had a lot of time to keep up with it. While I was traveling to Europe, my internet did not work well. Great idea to pass along reads from other articles. Thank you for sharing.

Glad you liked my summary of trending stories. I started to use Twitter more now because it’s another social media outlet other than looking at pictures on Instagram.

Wow Barbie’s gone girl squad?! That’s so fun. And I want to know what’s in that $7 foundation. Sounds like magic if 25K people are after it before it launches. Did you hear that Google is working on reading your thoughts? Or that a flying car prototype has successfully ben tested? So much happening in our lifetime.

As I don’t keep myself up to date as much as I obviously should it’s great that you tell me what’s buzzing right now and the only thing I actually DID know was the unicorn latte from Starbucks, but that might be because I’m a freak when it comes to anything unicorn, haha. Please keep these trending stories up!

We must be reading a lot of the same articles, because aside from the Barbie x Beyonce campaign, I knew about all the rest! So many fun things going on this spring. Sign me up for that foundation, and I seriously need to get into Bath & Body Works to compare their fizzies to the LUSH bath bombs!

I have a Twitter, but don’t use it nearly as much as I used to and need to. That $7 foundation definitely has me intrigued. I’m a foundation hoarder anyway, so here’s an excuse to get on the wait list 🙂

I love Twitter still because it’s an easy way to get information, but I don’t use it as often as I should. However, I’m making more of a priority to do so now!
