FEBRUARY GOALS

I can’t believe it’s already February! February is a month that I think doesn’t get enough attention simply because it’s the shortest month of the year. I however, do enjoy February because it’s a great transition into March, which for some reason always seems like a transitional time as we head to spring. Remember, when I wrote about my 5 goals for January here?

We’ll I just reflected back on those goals and I am so happy to announce that I have achieved all of them! So I”m back again with setting goals for this month, but since this month is really hectic for me, I decided not to overwhelm myself, so I am giving myself three goals, instead of five.

  1. Remember that it’s okay to spoil yourself: I will be in Milan the first week of February and then to Vegas for my best friend’s bachelorette. I am very good with budgeting and spending wisely during trips, but I want to remind myself that it’s okay to spoil myself during this time. The Milan trip is in a way a birthday gift to myself and if I fall in love with a designer bag or really want to have a fancy meal, I want to be able to do it without feeling guilty. In addition, I want to be able to let loose in Vegas and make sure my best friend has an amazing time because this is the first bachelorette party I have ever been a part of! This might seem like an odd goal for some people, but this is something I think will allow me to be more flexible with my money so I can make memories!
  2. Incorporate meditation at least once a week: I’ve been reading articles about the benefits of meditation, but I never was the type to get into it. I am all about trying out new things and getting out of my comfort zone, so I definitely want to start incorporating meditation into my morning routine. Instead of jumping into it, I will plan on doing 5 minute meditation using the app CALM and see how I feel. If I like it, then perhaps I will meditate for longer, but since this month will be busy for me, hopefully this can improve my mental state of mind and sanity!
  3. Spend quality time with family: I’ve already reiterated how crazy this month is for me, but it’s also an important month for my family. My mom’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year is on the 16th. For those two days, I don’t want to worry about work. I want to devote all my time and attention to spending time with my family. I enjoy Chinese New Year and want to see the dragon show in Chinatown this year. With these two holidays being smacked into the middle of the month, I am hoping to use both days to unwind and spend quality time with my family.

You will hear from me at the end of the month to see if I’ve accomplished these goals, but I have full faith and confidence in myself because these are realistic and that’s the whole point of setting monthly goals! I highly recommend you all to try this for yourself because not only do I feel accomplished when I self reflect, but it’s a great way to analyze what you want to achieve and see that you are capable of doing so! These are great goals to have for everyone. I love that you go on so many trips and yes, treating yourself here and there is what makes working so hard worth it and fun! So sad we missed each other in Vegas…one day we will meet! I haven’t tried meditating before but everyone is raving about it so it must work. I need to try it once soon.
