I love living in New York City and I love spending the holidays here! Although some people complain about the cold and I’m definitely guilty of doing this as well, I also believe there’s beauty and joy during the holidays. Since December has finally arrived and I know it will pass quickly, I am taking advantage of all the activities in the city so whether you’re a local or tourist, here are my recommendations on the top 5 holiday things to do in NYC.

- Visit Rockefeller Center: This might be a given but you simply cannot miss visiting Rockefeller Center during this time of year. Not only is this the place that holds the famous tree, but this is also the heart of Christmas. I actually have never experienced the tree lighting ceremony because it’s a little too hectic for me but I usually go afterwards to avoid the crowds. If you have never seen the tree, then you are in for a treat because it is HUGE! It’s absolutely beautiful and you can also shop beforehand or go ice skating in the rink. I love this area because there’s usually lots of lights and the decor is truly a sight to see.
- Shop at Holiday Markets: Shopping and holidays go hand in hand so why not visit the holiday markets? The best part is that there are many options to choose from including:
– The Winter Village at Bryant Park
– Grand Central Holiday Fair
– Union Square Holiday Market
– Columbus Circle Holiday Market
– Artists and Fleas Chelsea MarketI usually visit all of them throughout the month of December because I always end up finding something for someone on my list. I also love supporting local businesses and a lot of the vendors have great hand made products! - Visit Holiday Window Displays:Â Many retailers will have holiday window displays and they’re usually decorated with moving parts, animation and music! I especially would recommend visiting FAO Schwarz (this toy store reopened after closing in 2015), Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue (actually revealing the display today!), Bloomingdales, Henri Bendel, Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman.Â
- Instagram Worthy Places: For those visiting NYC and want Instagram worthy places, don’t worry because your girl has got you covered! Here are some photos from three places that I think speak for themselves:
230 Fifth Avenue:Â They actually have winter igloos in the rooftop and they light up at night!
SERRA by Birreria at Eataly: This is the perfect place to gather with your loved one or a group of friends and have a gorgeous lunch or dinner!*Outfit Details: Ted Baker Lurex Knitted Dress | Free People Vegan Going West Boots
Rolf’s German Restaurant: This restaurant screams Christmas and is definitely a jaw dropping location! I came in last week and it was already pretty packed so I would suggest planning this visit strategically.
*Outfit head to toe Ted Baker:Â Â Lurex Velvet Bow Sandals | Midi Metallic Bodycon Dress | Velvet Brocade Tassel ClutchLotte New Palace: This is a hotel but they always have a beautiful tree at the courtyard and it’s great for photos!
- Ice Skating/ Hot Chocolate: Last, but not least I feel like holidays in the city wouldn’t be complete without going ice skating and grabbing some hot chocolate. You can go ice skating at Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park or Central Park and these are all near the holiday markets. As for the hot chocolate, you an also find these at the holiday markets or really anywhere in the city!
I am so happy that I’ve already completed most of these holiday activities! Being that Christmas is only a few weeks away, I also hope you guys enjoy your day with your family, eat tons of delicious food and of course take a moment to be grateful for everything that you have!
