When I signed my lease for my apartment, I was excited because not only is it my first official apartment after college, but it was also my move to a different borough and I knew I was embarking on a new and exciting chapter in my life. The weeks leading up to my actual move in date, I went to Pinterest and Instagram for design inspiration. The best part about moving is the decorating and I wasn’t exactly sure what my personal style was but from looking at all my saved and like photos, I could see a common theme, I was drawn to greenery and plants.
Upon researching some companies, I stumbled across Rooted and I knew I had to reach out to partner with them because I thought to myself ‘wow these guys know what they’re doing’ especially when it comes to plants. Not only did I find their Instagram informative and cohesive, but I can sense their humor and wit and that’s something that you can’t fake. I am happy that Rooted agreed to work with me and the photos on this blog are all taken by them. They styled my bedroom in the dreamiest way possible and transformed my apartment to a mini plant heaven!
I knew that I wanted my apartment to be zen, to emit a feeling of coziness and peace. I wanted people to enter to a positive and sacred space and to leave all their worries and stress out the door. I find that greenery calms me down and that’s the main reason why I wanted to surround my room with Rooted plants. As you can tell from the photos, Rooted successfully made that atmosphere come to life and I didn’t even have to tell them what I was looking for!
If I’m going to be honest, I didn’t know anything about plants. I actually don’t think I ever even owned one. I also had this weird misunderstanding that watering plants meant just spraying their leaves and the soil. I had no idea that it actually takes effort, time, attention and dedication to maintain a healthy, long living and happy plant. Rooted gifted me five plants and within one week of possessing them, I realized that it’s a lot of work! I set Saturday as my watering schedule and thankfully all of the plants share the same watering needs.
Since owning the plants for a little over a month, I have come to realize that plants are like people. They need to be taken care of. Although each plant has different needs in terms of sunlight and water, most of the ones I have in my apartment are low maintenance. The best part is that the Rooted team is extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to not only choosing which plants are best for your space, but they are there to guide you should you have any questions regarding to plant care and questions. Even glancing at their website, you can find tons of information on each specific plant and they even broke it down to categories based on your preferences including difficulty, hanging basket, size, pet friendly, light and watering schedule. There are also blog posts that are extremely informative when it comes to all your FAQ and an informative plant care video on their Youtube channel. Rooted actually makes taking care of plants so easy and straight forward and that’s something that I really appreciate as a newbie plant mom.
If you guys are looking to add some plants to your home, feel free to check out Rooted. They were also kind enough to give me a discount code so feel free to use MARIANN10 for 10% off everything (one use per customer). I’m excited to get to know my plants more and to challenge myself to make sure they survive through the fall and of course the brutal winter!
