If you’re looking for a private escape in the heart of Catskills and want a quick getaway from the city, then you have to book Antrim Streamside!
Set on the banks of the Willowemoc, Antrim Streamside is the premier location for private getaways, guided fishing adventures, and hosting memorable events in the Catskills. Since its beginnings in the early 1900s, the property has undergone a unique transformation to what it is today.”
Antrim Streamside is only about two hours away from NYC, which makes it a convenient location to getaway. It is a beautiful property that offers a mix of renovated and comfortable lodging accommodations with modern amenities. There are two ponds, apple orchard, and 250 acres of woods filled with hiking trails and wildlife. Nature is everywhere and you will feel welcomed with peace and quiet.
Antrim Streamside has two types of cottages and four cabins to choose from. The River House and Stone Cottages are great for families as they are larger in size. Orchard’s Edge and Pond View are the larger cabins, each accommodating up to three guests, whereas the Pines and Meadow Vale are ideal choices for a couples. I stayed at Orchard’s Edge and brought my sister with me. It was the perfect size for the both of us and we loved how charming the cabin was. I enjoyed the little details including the screened sleeping porch, the chalkboard sliding closet door and the full-size tiled bath and mirror. To be honest, it was even more beautiful in person than in photos. The best part was that the room offered a cozy vibe and gave us a feeling of home away from home.
There is something for every type of traveler at Antrim Streamside! The property offers experiences such as fly fishing, hiking and birdwatching, yoga and massages and Beaver Lake farm. Since my sister and I only stayed for two nights, we decided to have a relaxing stay and not overwhelm ourselves. We did however hike Balsam Lake Mountain, which was highly recommended by Diane (the owner of Antrim Streamside). I will admit that the hike wasn’t easy only because it rained the night before, so the trails were very muddy. The overall hike is a little over 6 miles, so be prepared for that if you decide to go. However, I would recommend doing the hike regardless because there is no better feeling of accomplishment than reaching the top of the tower. You can also enjoy the pine scent and the beautiful views overlooking Catskills!
Livingston Manor is where Antrim Streamside is located, but if you drive just five minutes to Main Street, then you will come across some cute shops, cafes and restaurants. On the day we arrived, we visited The Walk In because this cafe is known for biscuits. I am so glad we made sure to try them because they were absolutely delicious! We tried the jam and butter biscuit and the egg and cheddar. They were both amazing, but I enjoyed the butter and jam more.
We also had dinner at Piccolo Paese, which is an Italian restaurant, founded in 1998. You can never go wrong with pasta so this place didn’t disappoint! We ordered half portions of cacio e pepe and penne vodka along with arugula and parmesan salad and brazino to share. The meal was perfect and made us feel extremely satisfied before returning back to Antrim Streamside where we decided to watch The British Baking Show on Netflix.
It’s great to explore the surroundings of Antrim Streamside, but I also think it’s equally fine to enjoy the property. Whenever I book getaways, I tend to prioritize slowing down and unwinding. It was refreshing to take walks throughout the acres of land and enjoy the sound of the ponds. I also loved talking with my sister on the benches overlooking the beautiful bridge. The lights on the bridge also come on after sunset, which makes it a beautiful moment to take in. As a city girl, it’s always nice to enjoy the peace and quiet. That’s the main reason why I prioritize visiting the Catskills during the fall. Not only are the fall foliage usually at peak, but it’s a great time to turn inwards.
Antrim Streamside is truly an amazing property that filled my cup. I felt extremely at peace when I was there. I needed to be around nature to ground myself, so here’s a reminder for you all to do the same. We often say yes to other things, but we don’t say yes to ourselves enough. Diane is a beautiful soul and she was so helpful in hosting me! If you are itching for a change of scenery or a getaway from the city, then definitely stay at Antrim Streamside!
