AUGUST GOALS

Writing this post makes me somewhat sad because it has finally hit me that summer is coming to an end. I don’t want to sound dramatic because I know technically it isn’t over until mid September, but I feel like once August hits, everything starts to wind down and we are going to have to all face that we only have several more months left of 2018, which is honestly mind blowing! July was a month that seemed to have flash before my eyes, partially because I went away for one week and partially because it was a jammed packed month for me.

As I look back on my three goals for July, I am happy that I didn’t overextend myself by putting too much on my plate. Throughout this year, I have learned to manage my workload better and it has helped tremendously with my stress and anxiety level. As a recap, my three goals were to start investing, enjoy summer and attend a summer only event and if I were to rate how well I did with these goals, I would say I would pass with flying colors. I dedicated the majority of the month to learn more about investing and feel more comfortable with the idea of money and budgeting for the future. I personally have a ROTH IRA and a general investing account and I am so happy that I decided to make this financial decision. In addition, I definitely have been enjoying summer since I have been outdoors and taking advantage of the warm weather.  I have also visited a few rooftop bars, which checks off the summer only event goal.

As I welcome August, I have to admit that I was stuck on writing my monthly goals. Most of the time, I feel like I know what I want to accomplish but I’ve been doing these monthly goals for seven months so it’s difficult to not try to sound repetitive even though is nothing wrong with wanting to accomplish a similar goal from a previous month. I actually think it’s a positive thing to want to tackle some goals from the past because I believe that helps with making those goals a habit. Since I don’t have much traveling planned, I’ve decided to hold myself accountable for the below 4 goals:
  1. Start on my secret project: I obviously can’t spill too much about my secret project, but I have been brainstorming an idea for the past month and I would like to actually start to put this in the works. I know this is vague but I am hoping that I can get this in motion since it is my main priority for the month of August. Stay tuned for more details!
  2. Get a new shoe organizer: Okay, I know this goal sounds ridiculous, but I honestly have been putting this off for as long as I can remember. I really need a new shoe organizer, so leave some comments if you have any suggestions. The best part about these monthly goals is that it can be as small or silly as this one. It’s somewhat of a combination of a to do list and errands list.
  3. Do something every weekend: You might be thinking, don’t you already do things on the weekend? And the answer is yes, but what I mean is actually have something to look forward to. I want to occupy my four weekends and look up events and activities to do in the city. This connects to my July monthly goal of enjoying summer because I know I will regret not taking advantage of the lovely weather once winter comes.
  4. Create content for IGTV: I was doing well with creating content for my IGTV series ‘OWN YOUR SASS’ and ‘FOLLOW ME AROUND NEW YORK’ but ever since my London trip, I haven’t uploaded any new content. I want to be consistent with both series so I am putting this as my last goal for the month of August. I plan on uploading four more videos for each series.

Can you guys believe we are already in August? It’s amazing how quickly the months are coming and ending. I would love to hear what your main goal is for August!
