BENEFITS OF MORNING SMOOTHIES

I have always been a morning person and I normally start my day with meditation and a workout. Once I get back from exercising, I love making a morning smoothie as a post workout meal. Not only are smoothies healthy for you, but they keep you full and energized throughout the day. The best part is that there are so many varieties and flavors that you can mix and match with, so there’s truly a smoothie for everyone. I’d like to share with you some health benefits of making a smoothie bowl to start your day.

  1. It can boost your immune system: Starting your day with a morning smoothie can have many health benefits for your body. A lot of the ingredients that you should add including fruits, vegetables and plant based protein powder consists of nutrients that help boost your immune system. And if you’re like me, then you hate being sick so adding key ingredients will help build a stronger immune system. If you are also one of those people that hate vegetables or leafy greens, then smoothies will be a great way to get them in your system because they mix easily, thus making it easier to ingest. The best part is that smoothies are delicious, so it wouldn’t be difficult to include them into your diet.
  2. You have more energy throughout the day: As someone who works out in the morning, I prefer making a smoothie bowl as my breakfast rather than relying on a cup of coffee. I usually include a plant based protein in my smoothies to keep me fuller for longer. After my smoothie bowl, I feel completely energized and ready to do whatever I have planned that day.
  3. Helps detox your body: Through the course of the day, we ingest a lot of toxins and it’s hard to flush them out on a daily basis. However, by drinking a smoothie every morning, you’ll be able to consistently detox yourself. A lot of our food are processed and contains chemical, so drinking something like a smoothie that is full of vitamins and minerals will help flush the toxins out. The result is a better digestive system and even clearer skin and who doesn’t want that.
  4. Be Happier: Scientific studies have proven that a lot of the fruits and vegetables in smoothies have led to a higher degree of overall happiness. While this is not completely guaranteed, I believe that the boost of energy that a smoothie gives you can definitely lead to an overall happier lifestyle. The folic acid or folate-rich vegetables have been shown to treat depression and improve moods in general and when my body feels good, I feel good!
  5. Get that healthy glow: This goes hand in hand with the detoxification benefit. When you flush out the toxins, your skin will look even better and you gain that glow-from-within. Increased hydration from smoothies will give you plumper, clearer skin. You will look well-rested and glowing from daily smoothies and this will be an enjoyable way to incorporate a healthy choice into your lifestyle.

These are just some of the few benefits from drinking a smoothie every morning. There are so many great things about increasing your vegetable and fruit intake this way. Let me know if you love smoothies as much as I do and if you have some favorite recipes!

  • I used to drink smoothies every single morning and then I got lazy. This post is inspiring me to start up again. It is a great way to get ahead of your fruit and veggie count per day and just sets the mood and intention for the rest of the day. I usually just add an apple, spinach, some mango, almond milk and flaxseed. xoxo, Christine
