COACHELLA TRENDS RECAP

*Outfit Details with affiliate links: Top (Forever 21), Pants (Boutique), Block Sandals (Clarks), Backpack (Topshop)

Coachella just wrapped up this weekend and although I didn’t attend, I decided do a recap of my favorite looks and trends since it’s always entertaining for me to see what people choose to wear for festivals. I was also inspired to write this post because my Instagram feed was filled with bohemian clothing, flower crowns, high waisted pants and bralettes. Below are some common trends from Coachella that I think are also relevant for all the upcoming summer festivals:

  • Body Suits: Let’s be honest, body suits are probably one of the top selling items for festivals because they are great for the hot weather and easy to just throw on under a pair of shorts. The only issue is using the bathroom, but I guess we sacrifice the easy process for looking cute.
  • Flared pants: I never got into flared pants until this spring and I am actually considering buying a pair. They are making a come back from the 90’s as I am sure you have seen so many girls wearing them for Coachella. There are so many cool patterns out there that you can just match it with a cute crop top. Not to mention, flare pants are equivalent to the comfort that pajamas offer, so I can understand why people opt to wear them.
  • Strappy Sandals: I think it’s safe to assume that the common footwear for a summer festival are sandals. I’ve seen many people wear the strappy styled ones since they’re simple,  cute and you can buy them almost anywhere.
  • Swimwear: This somewhat relates to a bodysuit, but I’ve seen people wear their one piece or bandeau to a festival and I think it’s a smart idea. You can easily jump into a pool right after and this is also appropriate for a summer pool party.
  • Reflective Sunglasses: This is definitely a summer trend to stay since the reflective lens give a retro and fashionable aspect to any outfit. I am currently on the lookout for a pair myself!
  • Jumpsuit: Like a bodysuit, a jumpsuit is easy to throw on. I’ve seen people choose more of a bohemian style with flared bottoms and others that go for short bottoms since it’s hot. I like both styles and think it depends what mood I’m in.
  • Denim, Denim, Denim:  Denim is everywhere ranging from shorts, jackets, dresses, you name it! We can’t get away from denim and I don’t know why we would!

If you went to Coachella, let me know what you wore and if you didn’t let me know what your favorite look or trend was! I definitely want to go one day as I just added this to my bucket list so maybe next year will be my year!

  • Nice recap. I love the reflective sunnies and swimwear were my favourite. I have never been to Coachella even though I lived only a 3 hrs drive away but it would've been a bit fun, but I'm not sure I'm down for the madness.

    • I think it can get a little crazy, but I also think if you go with a good group of friends, you can have a nice relaxing time especially during the day and hang out in the grass and listen to music.

    • You can't go a summer without sunglasses and the reflective styles are definitely the trend right now ;)

  • I am very envious to all those lucky people who got to go to Coachella. Seems like it would be such a fun time. Love the strappy sandals with a romper & hat. Maybe some day!

    • I was jealous too! I definitely want to experience Coachella at least once in my life!

  • I saw a lot of these trends on blogs and instagram pages too! I definitely wore sunglasses a lot last year, and saw many people wearing jumpsuits and bodysuits, and even just bikinis!! I love checking out the trends from Coachella :)

    • I think people are less afraid of exploring festival styles since it's an actual event. I was definitely enjoying all the different trends over Instagram.

  • Definitely a fan of all of these trends! Bodysuits have become my holy grail because of their simplicity and how flattering they look with high waisted bottoms. I wore one this past weekend with some Mom shorts and got so many compliments! Definitely a fan of flares as well. I will pretty much wear any 70s trend :)

    • I adore bodysuits but I find it difficult if you have to use the restroom. I am obsessed with high waisted anything so I would've opt for shorts and probably a frilly top or bandeau!

  • I am a huge fan of festival styles, though I don't really have an opportunity to wear them anywhere haha! I think my favorite trends are the flared pants, strappy sandals, and denim!

    • Festivals are such a great way to dress up and explore fun styles. I'm not a huge fan of flared pants, but I think I would totally rock them if I went to Coachella.

    • Thank you honey! These pants are very comfortable and I was a bit hesitant to buy them at first because I felt like they look too much like pajamas pants but I have found ways to make them look stylish :)

  • I love the ideas as trends to wear on your own. However, sometimes I look at all that denim (long pants or a full body jumpsuit) and I wonder how they rock them out there in all that heat haha. I'm trying to get more into the idea of bodysuits because they tuck so well into clothes. But the bathroom situation sounds complicated haha.

    • I feel the same way sometimes. I can look at somebody's style and admire it but I don't think I would be able to pull it off!

  • I'm so obsessed with that denim jumpsuit! It's perfect for a festival but it can totally work for the city too. I always feel a little regretful when I'm buying something just for one event so knowing I can wear it afterwards is always a plus!

    • I only buy items if I can actually wear it more than once. I try to justify the price point by how many times I will actually be able to wear the item.

    • For the most part, festival trends stay the same year after year. It's just nice to see how people style their clothing.
