Imagine walking on a beautiful beach with birds chirping in the sky, your feet touching the warm sand, hammocks and cabanas laid out for you and the sun beaming right above you as you soak in the calming sound of waves against the shore. That’s basically the instant feeling I experienced when I stayed at Curtain Bluff, an all inclusive luxurious resort located on the southern tip of Antigua last week.
I personally am not a beach person, at least that’s what I kept telling myself prior to my stay at Curtain Bluff. I am the adventurous type of traveler, one that loves to be outdoors and crave anything that gives me adrenaline or keeps me active. To my pleasant surprise, Curtain Bluff has more to offer than just its two beautiful beaches. The resort’s luxury accommodations all have ocean views and offer premium water activities for people like me, including scuba diving and reef snorkeling as well as the below full list of activities on property:
- Tennis courts, rackets and balls
- Swimming pool (with two 75-foot lap lanes)
- Waterskiing (speedboat, equipment and instruction)
- Beach toys (Hobie Cats, paddle-boats, kayaks and Windsurfers)
- Snorkel equipment (fins, mask and snorkel) and reef trips
- Beach chairs, hammocks and sun floats
- Fully equipped fitness center
- Squash court, rackets and balls
- Water aerobics, yoga, muscle toning, and Pilates classes
- Bocce and shuffleboard courts
- Half basketball court
- Pickleball
As you can see, there is something for everybody and you will certainly not be bored, which is often a concern I have when staying at a beach resort. Curtain Bluff’s service is also like no other all inclusive resort I have been to. From my prior experience, all inclusive resorts often sacrifice their food and beverage quality for the affordable price. That’s certainly not the case with Curtain Bluff because I must say their dining selection is absolutely amazing! For those of you who love banana bread, you have to come to Curtain Bluff just for that sole reason. I was told it would be the best banana bread I’ve ever tried and I must say after eating at least two slices a day while I was there and bringing a whole loaf back to NYC, it truly lives up to its hype!
There are two restaurants on property including Tamarind Tree restaurant, which offers European and Caribbean fusion for lunch and dinner and The Sea Grape, Curtain Bluff’s new Italian-fare beach restaurant that offers evening dining right by the sand. There is also afternoon tea on the Sugar Mill Terrace and you can request for snacks throughout the day should you feel hungry. I loved that there were tons of options to choose from and I was always satisfied after every meal. For breakfast, my friend Katya and I enjoyed ordering food to our room so we can eat it outdoors while soaking in the sun and listening to the waves.
As mentioned previously, I love being active so I made sure to take advantage of the fitness center as well as the outdoor tennis courts with lessons from pros. The resort also offers yoga and pilates and it was great to take a class and sweat a little bit before relaxing more on the hammocks and cabanas. There is also a lovely spa so you can book your massages, body treatments and facials.
Everybody at Curtain Bluff were also extremely welcoming and radiated positive vibes! I learned that a lot of families make it a trip every year to spend some time at the resort and continue to return year after year. I can understand why and think it makes for an amazing, relaxing vacation. The resort is also ranked top resort in Antigua in Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best Awards” and ranked as one of the top resorts in Antigua by Condé Nast Traveler. I usually like to explore new places before returning to old ones but Curtain Bluff has truly made a remarkable first impression and would certainly be a resort that I’d love to go back to!
*Thank you Curtain Bluff for hosting me!
