I have a great desire for wanderlust and I am constantly looking for my next destination. A frequent question I always get is how do I afford to travel. I do not come from money, but I will say that I am proud of my budgeting and saving skills as those are the two main reasons why I am able to explore foreign places. I decided to give you all five of my travel tips on how to find the best deals because I promise you, it isn’t as expensive as you may think!
Always search for flights on non-peak times: For the most part, if you are searching for a flight on the weekends or a Thursday/ Friday night, they will most likely be more expensive than they would be if you were searching for it on a Tuesday/ Wednesday morning or afternoon. I am not sure if there’s actual evidence to prove this, but this is based on my research and personal experience. I normally will monitor a flight for a week to see the prices and how they fluctuate depending on the time and day. So the next time you want to book a flight or see how much a flight cost, try both scenarios and compare the amounts.
Look into Groupon for Deals: I love Groupon Getaways because they offer the best packages and deals especially if you are looking for flights + tours combined. I have travelled several times through their packages and I have had great experience. You also save money and headaches since everything is planned out for you. With this being said, you can also look at other travel websites such as Orbitz, Expedia, Tripadvisor, etc.
If you have flexibility, use Skyscanner: I know people are often limited with how many days they can take off for vacation, but if you have flexibility in your schedule and have an open mind about where to go, definitely use Skyscanner. The best feature is their “everywhere” search, which will pull up any locations and even the cheapest month. This is a great option for those who are adventurous and are basically down to go anywhere at anytime.
Sign up notifications with SecretFlying: This is one of my new discoveries and I absolutely love it! Basically, I receive an email about flight deals and error flights and the prices will shock you! Like Skyscanner, this is targeted for those who have a more open traveling schedule, but it’s always good to have a company do the searching for you.
Sign up for Travel Credit Cards/ Bonuses: I strategically sign up for travel credit cards that give me the most bonus mileage for sign up. I have racked up points and miles throughout the years and this will give me free trips in the future. The best card is the CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE because I was able to get 100,000 miles which is an offer I couldn’t pass up!
These tips may or may not be new to you but I promise these are the tips that I always use to find the best travel deals. The most important part is to be diligent in researching and monitoring because the more work you put in, the more you’ll save. Let me know what is your best tip is in booking travel!
My favorite tip is definitely checking Groupon because they tend to have some amazing deals on there! Love that red jumpsuit by the way... the color looks like it was MADE for you!
These are such great tips. When B and I were long distance, I was always searching for the best flight deals. I almost always left and came home on Tuesday afternoons because they were the least expensive time! I never knew that prior to flying frequently! Now I have even more tools in my belt! Thanks for sharing!

My fiance has been bugging me about a Southwest Airlines credit card for the longest and I just keep telling him, "no, no more credit cards!" Haha perhaps it may actually beneficial since we both fly with them a lot. Thanks for these tips, girl. I'm sure they'll prove to be useful in the future!
There are actually quite a few good credit cards that work in your favor if you are traveling a lot. The main reason why I even have credit cards is to rack up miles because in the long haul, I get free trips and who doesn't want that?!
I've heard of Skyscanner before! I'm in the works of planning my trip for Italy - Austria - Switzerland and I'm looking for the cheapest deals. This is the perfect post, thank you! http://www.samanthamariko.com

Actually the Secretflying service was something I haven't heard of before and now I'm subscribing, so thanks for that! As for credit cards mine is tied to an airline and I'm a mileage junkie and just love seeing those miles drop in from buying everything from groceries to whatever it may be. :)
