You have spent hours researching and creating compelling and relevant content for your audience, yet it doesn’t seem to work. You get little to no engagement at all, and it looks like you should give up. However, that little voice inside you is convinced that your content is worth sharing. Listen to that little voice!
Creating good content is crucial, but nearly as important is also knowing HOW to promote it. Where better to promote your content than where we spend most of our time: social media? When it comes to getting your work out there, social media is kind of a double-edged sword. You can get your work in front of everyone, but so can every other content creator out there. Taking the right content to the right audience at the right time can be tricky at first but not unless you have some guidance.
Some tips can help you take your social media promotion to the next level:
- Understand the magic of storytelling. Have you ever found yourself listening enthusiastically to an engaging lecturer who adds personal experience to facts and data? Have you ever noticed that you would much rather enjoy reading a captivating novel rather than a blandly educational book? If yes, you are not the only one. That is the effect stories have on people. A compelling story creates a link between itself and its readers. Whether it is fictional or not, it appeals to emotion within its readers such that they begin to put themselves in the world of the story, and it influences their actions. As a promoter, this could work out well for you because you can persuade them to patronize you.
- Visuals make you stand out. Many of the most used social networks are based entirely on images- so this tip might seem like a no-brainer, but it is still worth mentioning. Visual content is 40 times more likely to get shared than all-text content. It attracts a lot of attention and can be entertaining to watch. Of course, photos are widely-used, yet don’t forget the importance of videos as well. Videos are becoming an increasingly important part of the promotional artillery. Nearly 65% of companies and large organizations consider it the most engaging communication channel for their audiences.
- Be honest about what you are doing. No need to hide it- you are advertising for yourself. You know it, your audience knows it, everyone knows it. It’s okay being honest that you’re promoting something. Show your self-awareness by including relevant links and calls to action that let your audience know what you offer and how you can help them.
- Create communication. Your social media presence should not be only about advertisement or promotion. It’s also about engaging with your audience. You have to build authentic relationships with them and learn to listen. It is a great strategy that helps you turn strangers into loyal customers to you or your brand.
