HONG KONG 2016: PART II

Okay, here’s my part II of my Hong Kong trip! I thought I’d jump right into it and write everything I’ve done thus far and my thoughts.


  • Tim Ho Wan: This is a one Michelin Star restaurant and it’s definitely a must eat spot for all the foodies out there. It was on my to do list because there was no way I was missing out on an opportunity to eat at a well recognized restaurant, especially in another country. There are a few locations, but I went to the one located at Hong Kong MTR station. I only spent about $20 USD for two people!!! I know, it’s literally insane and I still cannot believe how inexpensive the meal was! I would never be able to afford a michelin star meal in New York, so the fact that I was able to check this off my bucket list is incredible to me. I ordered their famous char siu bun and it was definitely the best ones I’ve had so far. I also had their rice rolls, steamed dumpling and fried egg and minced pork. I am definitely coming here again before I leave because the price is unbeatable and the food was amazing. I would say if you ever come to Hong Kong and had to pick one place to eat, this is it!

  • IFC Mall: This mall is located at Central MTR station and it’s a great place to shop and hang out. There are so many stores and floors that I promise you won’t be bored. My favorite part was the rooftop because it overlooks the city and you can just eat, drink and lounge in the sun. It was super relaxing and I felt like I was on a stress free vacation. I love being a tourist and sightseeing, but I also love relaxing days where you can literally just leisurely walk and shop without a specific schedule to follow.
  • Tsuen Wan Park: My hotel is located near Tsuen Wan West so I accidentally found this park as I was exiting the MTR heading back to the hotel. It’s a boardwalk area that overlooks the water but I definitely would consider it a hidden gem. I looked over the water and I just had a moment of realization that this is what travel feels like. It’s only been four days since I’ve been here, but I truly have appreciated the beauty of Hong Kong, but I don’t want to go on a rant. I’ll save that for my last post about my trip.


  • Victoria Peak: Hiking is an activity that I love to do, especially since I don’t do it often when I’m back at home. The Victoria Peak has trials that allows you to hike to the top and watch the amazing view. You can take the tram but for someone who loves fitness and exercise, I thought I hike instead. It wasn’t too difficult and it made the view at the top much more enjoyable. It took me about 45 minutes to get to the top, but there are resting stops along the way, so if you have time you should definitely take the trail. I would highly recommend visiting Victoria Peak especially during sunset hours as it’s basically a must see attraction on any Hong Kong tourism list.

  • Ngong Pin 360/ Tin Tan Buddha: I think this must be one of the most iconic attractions in Hong Kong. I’m sure a lot of you have seen the Big Buddha statue in pictures before. There is a cable car that takes you to a village town where you walk up to the Buddha statue and monastery temples. The sight on the cable car is absolutely gorgeous because you are up in the air and you have a view of the whole island. There are two options for the cable car, one is standard and the other is crystal so the bottom of the car is transparent and you can see the ground beneath you. I chose the standard one since I didn’t think it was much of a difference. However, it’s really up to you and the type of experience you want. When you first arrive to the Buddha, you might think there are a lot of steps to get to the top, but I promise it would take less than 10 minutes to climb. The view from top is breathtaking and you also have the option to pray and visit the temples. Even if you aren’t religious, I think it’s a great opportunity to appreciate the Chinese culture and spirituality.

So far my trip has been amazing and I have been walking a lot! It pays off that I’m eating all these delicious foods but also getting my daily 10,000 steps in. I will probably have another part or two within the next few days 🙂
