NYFW is always an exciting, but hectic time of year. I absolutely love attending the shows and seeing the trends for the upcoming season, but I easily also get overwhelmed with not only managing my schedule but of course organizing my outfits. If there’s one thing that many bloggers stress over, it’s what they’re going to wear for all the shows. Personally, I’m a visual person and I’m also type A, which means I love to plan everything in advanced. I’m definitely not the type to wing an outfit, especially if it’s for fashion week.
I wanted to share the app Finery because it has been extremely helpful for me to organize my outfits. If you guys don’t remember, I actually hosted an event with them earlier this year and you can read about it here. In summary, Finery is a styling platform that allows you to wear the clothes you already own. They have other features as well including connecting your online purchases to your account, which allows you to see the items you have in your closet and the app also allows you to create a wishlist of items you love. You are also able to then purchase items that you have saved. This has been a life saver especially with the chaos of choosing what to wear for NYFW. The app made this process easy because all I had to do was include the items that I knew I wanted to wear into the app and I was able to visualize what accessories paired well with each other. They also show photos of people styling similar items, so it’s a great way to get inspiration if you’re not sure how to wear a specific piece. There are obviously more usages for the app beside NYFW. For example, it’s great for vacations, travel, events, etc. I think the best part about Finery is that it truly helps you with organization and it makes your life much easier especially if you’re managing a lot of other tasks besides styling. I will actually be using the app for my Paris and Portugal trip next week as well! If you guys want to give it a try and play around with it, you can download it here.
Finery was also so kind to invite me to the Johnathan Simkhai show and it’s going to be the only show I cover in my blog this season. I knew it was a highly anticipated show so I had high expectations and I was definitely not disappointed. There was a huge line just to get in and that’s always a great sign of what to expect. Upon entering, I noticed a lot of greenery so I expected the designs to be inspired by gardens and flowers. I also knew it was a presentation and not a runway show, so I knew there was going to be some type of interaction and movement with the models.
The collection was absolutely beautiful as there was a theme of white lace, flowy and dreamy dresses with more neutral, but pretty colors. I loved that the models weren’t too serious and they were very relaxed, comfortable and also seemed to enjoy their time in their beautiful outfits. The models rotated every now and then and seemed to have flexibility in their space and poses which is what I admired. There was also live music, so it tied the whole carefree and upbeat vibe of the presentation. It was also a great social event because the people who attended the show were mingling and socializing and it was a mixture of a fashion event and cocktail party. Overall, I had an amazing time and definitely thought this was a highlight of my fashion week. Here are also some of my looks that I wore this season.
Let me know what your favorite show or event was if you attended NYFW. I had a great time this season and can’t wait for the next!
