- Reframe the way you think about change: As stated previously, mindset and perspective makes a difference in how you look at change. Your initial reaction can be negative, but try to look at the positive sides and I can guarantee you that there are always pros to every situation. For example, if you decide to end a relationship with a friend or signifiant other, it can obviously be a difficult time. However, the bright side can be that there are better relationships waiting for you in the future. Once you adopt a positive mindset, the change doesn’t seem so bad after all. In fact, change can actually lead to something better.
- Seek Help or Vent: I definitely encourage people to vent about their situations to a trusted friend or family member because bottling things up can only lead to a later explosion of emotions. I have a problem with this as well because I normally like to keep things to myself. I’ve realized, however, once you start to talk about it, it becomes easier to vocalize how you feel and once you acknowledge those feelings, it’s easier to accept the change and move on.
- Take time for yourself: Changes can happen overnight, but it doesn’t mean that you need to accept them overnight. It takes time to fully accept different circumstances and I think it’s important to either getaway, meditate or do something relaxing for yourself. I love me time and it has taught me to accept what life throws at me and I can better prepare myself on how to overcome them.
- Exercise and Eat Healthy: A lot of people neglect their health during transitional periods and I think that’s one of the biggest mistakes they can make. Health is everything and I think some people get too caught up with stress and emotions that they forget to take care of themselves. This relates to the above tip of taking time for yourself. Still remember to exercise since endorphins will make you feel good and fuel your body with healthy foods, so you are feeling energized from the inside out.
- Be Proactive: After you’ve taken time to accept the change, then make an action plan of how you want to deal with it and what you want to achieve. There’s nothing more motivating than writing goals and planning your future because I always find myself excited to make them happen.
I hope these tips were helpful because we often forget that we all have problems in our lives. We are all going through something, whether it’s exciting or difficult. As I look back in the changes I’ve faced this year, I can proudly say that I think those changes were necessary and I am starting to see the positive outcomes from them. Let me know what your tip is in embracing and dealing with change.

Thank you for this post. This past year has been full of change for me leaving Home, starting college, pledging a sorority, studying, missing Home, and on and on. I do try to stay health by exercising and eating healthy. Great suggestions.

I’m glad to hear that you’re still prioritizing your health! College is definitely a time full of changes, but I think you are doing well with handling it.
Your dress is beautiful! And you’re right, it’s all about perspective. Some change is really good.
Thank you Maria!
This is a great way to see change. Change is definitely scary and unfamiliar but I truly believe it happens for a reason and things are meant to be. Change is always something we should embrace to move forward and these tips are great for change that doesn’t seem like it’s a positive thing in your life. Trying to see the benefits and moving forward always help me deal with change. Xoxo, Christine

I’m glad you found these tips helpful Christine. And you are totally right, the best way to handle change is to embrace it because it’s inevitable!
I went through a major change in life when I migrated from Malaysia to Canada in end 2014. I wish I seek out help for it, talk to a professional but I was depressed for almost a year even though my husband and MIL were extremely loving and supportive. It wasn’t easy leaving everything I know behind but thankfully I have adapted to life here and can’t imagine going back.

I’m sorry to hear that it was difficult but I’m so glad you were able to get through it. I always like to look at situations as a learning experience and I’m sure you’ve grown in a positive way from the move!
I used to be not as accepting of change, especially when I first started working when I was 16. I was young and not really mature, so I never understood why it had to happen. Growing up and learning more about how the world works made me realize how important change is, not just with businesses, but with everyday life. Some of us can get so used to a routine, when we need to change sometimes to challenge ourselves and to also stimulate growth. Great post babe!

Thank you Candace! And I agree, I think we learn to accept change as we grow older and experience what life really is about.
As someone who – admittedly – hates change, these are some really good tips to bear in mind. Taking time for yourself is so important and as you say, sometimes we all just need a good vent!
Musings & More
We get comfortable with our routines and change disrupts it so that’s why it’s hard for us to accept, but we all go through it!
Thanks of these great tips on dealing with change! I’m not the biggest fan of change but with time I’ve learned to accept it as a part of life and to go with the flow. Your first tip is so on point. Your mindset really changes everything.
xo, Jo
Yes, mindset is honestly everything! A positive mindset helps to handle all difficult decisions.
I completely agree with all of these tips for dealing with any kind of change in your life, especially maintaining at least a part of your daily routine so that it balances out with whatever change you are dealing with. I used to be so scared of change but I’ve learned to accept it much better after certain events in my life. It isn’t always a bad thing 🙂

Change is inevitable so I think it’s much easier to welcome it rather than rebel against it.
Your jacket and shoes are so beautiful!
I find it easy to deal with change, it’s all about being flexible and optimist 🙂

Thank you Yara and I totally agree, I would take being an optimist over pessimist any day!

Thank you so much Hannah!
I have this hate/love relationship with change. Sometimes I get so stuck in my routines that anything outside of it freaks me out, and sometimes I love changing things up. It definitely helps to talk about it though! On your second point, you mentioned ‘vent’ and I thought you were going to talk about the app, which is really great to, well, vent without judgement. I’ve used it a few times and found it helpful!

I always find that talking and expressing our emotions help with dealing with it because sometimes, we just want to be heard. And in a way, venting is a form of accepting.
Change is hard i agree but also exciting if you embrace it. If you have goals and what you wan to achieve then working towards something makes dealing with change a lot easier x

Looking into the future is definitely a great way to overcome change and life’s obstacles!
Change is like that monster under the bed situation. Face it, and in the light of day, it doesn’t look quite as scary anymore. And, of course, that’s so much easier said than done but that’s the truth 🙂 I too am guilty of holding things in and over analysing. Working on being better xoxo
I love that analogy! I’m glad I’m not the only one who holds guilt every now and then, but it’s important to remind ourselves that we will feel so much better if we just let it go and move on.
This is a great post that really got me thinking! I think that in a person’s 20s, a lot can change and a lot has for me this year. I never really stopped to look back and reflect until seeing your post though, so thank you for that! I think that having a good support system is so important to help you through the changes. Being able to vent is key! xo, sharon

I’m so glad you have a great support system because that truly does play a role in helping us go through change. Life is full of surprises and this year really opened up my eyes to it!

I never know how to feel about change and it always takes me a while to embrace it when it happens, but changing my mindset is always a helpful trick – instead of focusing on the negative aspects, I focus on all the positive things that could come out of it in the long run:) And eating healthy/exercising is always a great way to keep my mind focused and alert! Also, you look incredible in these photos. Love the outfit xox

Thank you Maria for your kind words and I am so glad that you agree mindset is everything.
What a beautiful and insightful blog post. As a Capricorn guy I have a hard time dealing with change. Change is something I actually despise… and I have to admit that all your tips are really helpful my darling. Once again… a great job
Thank you Kamen! I don’t think any of us really likes change, but since it’s inevitable, I think it’s important we learn how to handle it in the best way possible.
These tips are coming at just the right time in my life. Thank you for all the wisdom!

I used to hate change but given that it’s an inevitable factor of life, I am learning to embrace it and adapt to it faster each year that passes by. Your points are very valid and helpful. Having the time to accept things and share them with others will always make these challenging situations better! Thanks a lot for sharing, beauty

I don’t think anybody is a real fan of change but like you mentioned, it’s inevitable and I think over time, we adopt methods that help us accept them.
