I’ve been blogging seriously only starting this past February but I have definitely experienced blogging plateaus here and there. I think it’s extremely common and normal so if you are going through it, you’re not alone! I wanted to share some of my tips for getting over your struggles with finding inspiration or creativity because I’ve been there and I know it’s not easy.
But before I jump into it, I wanted to share details of my vacation inspired floral dress from Sheinside. I am trying to cling onto summer for as long as I can even though I know September is winding down. I think this dress is perfect for a vacation because the green print resembles palm trees and sunny weather. I love that it’s also a halter top because I love showing my back and it’s a subtle way to be sexy and free. The length is also perfect because I can wear wedges, which are comfortable and makes me feel taller. It’s a fun dress to wear and I also had a great time twirling and photographing in it 🙂 Feel free to check out the dress here and Sheinside has many other affordable, trendy looks as well.
Going back to blogging plateaus, here are my top three tips on how to overcome them:
- THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX: I think too often we may be too caught up with social media and everything that is in our face such as clothing and accessories, flatlays, selfies and mirror pictures. All of those are great social media content, but sometimes in order to get inspired, you may need to think outside the social media bubble. I would recommend going to a museum or a play, take a stroll in an unfamiliar neighborhood, or have a talk with an older relative. These are all basic things that we have access to and you may be surprised what may come of it. I think we can all get something from life activities and hobbies aside from blogging.
- TAKE A BREAK: This might sound a little crazy to some of you, but taking a break is necessary! When we force ourselves to think of the next blog post or schedule our next photoshoot, things can get hectic and we lose ourselves into the process. I think if you are in a rut, acknowledge it and actually take a week to yourself to gather your thoughts. I find this difficult because I’m such a planner and I always need to do something, but I think it’s important to take a step back and analyze the issue. I know some bloggers post X amount of times on their blog and Instagram and if they don’t have content, they fall off their schedules and that freaks them out. But it’s just like a vacation. We all need vacations from our busy lives, so take breaks from blogging if you’re just not feeling it.
- CONNECT WITH OTHER BLOGGERS: The best thing about the blogging community is that we all share the same passion, struggles, interests, fears, etc. So if you’re experiencing a blogging plateau, chances are, another blogger is going through it too. I would reach out to bloggers and talk with them whether it’s through email, text or even in person. It’s always nice to talk about what you’re going through and they most likely would be able to relate and give you great advice.
Nobody likes experiencing blogging plateaus but I think it comes with the job. I would say the key is to definitely be patient and to remember that you won’t be there forever. It’s only temporary and sometimes necessary so you can break and refuel again. Let me know if you can relate and what your intake on this is!

It would be great to connect with other bloggers. I wish I wasn’t so busy that I could make the time! However, these are great tips. I have been experiencing a bit of burnout lately. Maybe it’s time to take a bit of a break and organize my time.

Taking a break is the best one, you can’t and shouldn’t force creativity – it never ends well.

I totally agree and think the print is very summer and holiday inspired. I am actually looking forward to the fall so thought this was a great outfit to end summer with!
I know this post is about staying inspired, but girl, that dress is giving me life! I actually have the original Beverly Hills Hotel wallpaper in my home office (the same wallpaper that has inspired this tropical banana leaf craze right now), and its always like a mini vacation when I can step aside from my computer screen and stare at the wall. Great post, and great tips!
