HOW TO TACKLE NYFW LIKE A PRO

So the title of this blog post might be a little misleading since this will actually be my first year attending NYFW but I still think I can share some advice on how to tackle it like a pro based on my observations from previous years. I know that it’s a crazy and hectic time for the whole fashion industry and that includes us bloggers!  I didn’t know I was going to get so many invites during this time, but I am super glad and excited that I am getting involved.

The first step is to definitely plan out your schedule. A lot of shows happen in different venues and you need to plan out all the details including the address and times because there can be schedule conflicts. In addition, you need to be cautious of the locations and where you will be traveling from. Can you make it there in X amount of time? Remember that a lot of things happen on the day of so make sure you are prepared and you know exactly where you’re going, how you’re getting there and what time you’ll be there.

After you have finalized your schedule, plan out your outfits. This is probably the hardest but funnest part of NYFW. There are going to be photographers everywhere and it’s a great opportunity to go wild and really explore your style. I feel like it’s ok to play it safe as well, so don’t feel the need to have to wear feathers and geometric dresses. I would say be true to who you are but if you want to take some risks and be bold, here’s the time to do so! I know some bloggers change for each show, but your girl doesn’t have the time for that. I would say whether you have multiple shows, events or parties, plan your outfits ahead of time and know where you’re changing and how you’re changing.

As a blogger, I plan on covering the shows so if you are, make sure you have your bag all ready especially if you want to jot down some notes, or take pictures. The worst thing that can happen is realizing you forgot your camera when you’re at a show. I know we all have our phones and probably never leave the house without them, but I think during this busy time, it is definitely possible to forget an essential item like your phone. This is a big week event and I think we need to prepare for it ahead of time.

Lastly, have fun in all the chaos! Just like you might be running around New York from show to show, models are running backstage to get changed. It’s going to be crazy, but don’t let that overwhelm you. If you are prepared, it should be a breeze. And if you face some problems and are stressed out, just breathe and take it easy. NYFW doesn’t happen often, so you should enjoy it! Let me know if you guys are attending NYFW and how you plan on preparing for it!
