I am sure you all know that Instagram rolled out its newest IGTV feature. At first, I was very confused by it because I believe users had to download the separate IGTV app in order to upload videos. However, that is currently not the case as IGTV is now part of the Instagram app. I had mixed feelings about it (as I always do when there are new additions and changes to the app). Now that it’s been a week or so since its launch, I have started to slowly see the benefits as I am experimenting more on how to use it.
As some of you may know, I actually started a youtube channel in the beginning of this year to do more vlogging. I mostly catered my videos to my travels because I wanted to document my experiences. I didn’t promote it as much because my main priority was to use the channel as a diary for myself. I found it to be quite difficult to bridge the gap between my Instagram followers to becoming Youtube viewers. I see that IGTV is actually a solution for this issue because Instagram users don’t have to actually leave the app and let’s be honest, that’s something that benefits both users and Instagram.
We all know that IGTV is now competing with Youtube but I believe Youtube has a strong platform and honestly won’t be affected much by the video feature. I took the plunge and decided to do a mini series called FOLLOW ME AROUND NYC with a focus on different neighborhoods. I think a lot of people are fascinated by the city and as a native New Yorker, I really wanted to showcase what it’s really like to live here. My first video gives you glimpses of Soho, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods and you can view it here. My second video brings you to Midtown, Manhattan, which is basically the chaos and hustle of the city and you can view it here. And my latest one is around Astor place, which has a surprise ending and you can view that here.
I also decided to move my #OWNYOURSASS series to IGTV because it’s a great way to explore the topic in a more organic and natural dialogue with women. I actually have been loving the segment because I get so inspired and motivated afterwards. I just posted my first episode featuring my best friend Rochelle so definitely check it out here.I am looking forward to growing the series because I think I am able to connect more with women in a one on one interaction. The best part is that I can also have people from different countries participate since I love to travel and it’s a great way to expand my audience!
I have been exploring different series ideas and I actually am getting excited for the content that I will create for IGTV. The best part is that I have decided I want to make this more organic and raw and don’t want to focus too much on editing. For my youtube videos, I noticed a big chunk of my time went to editing and I realized, my main goal isn’t to create these beautiful, well edited videos. Instead, I want to make them more relatable and simple. So I would love to hear what you guys think about IGTV? Have you posted any videos? And how are you juggling this feature along with stories? Let me know!

You can definitely find creative ways to use IGTV feature! Maybe a look book or tutorial that ties in with one of your blog posts :)
Love your outfit! And excited to see what you and everyone else cooks up on IGTV Xx

Yes it's an exciting time!
I've yet to use the feature, so I appreciate you sharing your personal insight. I don't think they'd replace YouTube either, but dang, Insta is really trying to snatch it all, haha. I'm loving your outfit by the way, girl! Thanks for sharing and have a great week ahead!

I would recommend playing around with it! It's pretty cool and you can get really creative :)
Thanks for sharing! I’m still confused with the IGTV lol but hey it’s kinda cool at the same time!
Haha I totally had the same feeling. I feel like there wasn't a tutorial from Instagram but the best part is just playing around with it and figuring it out yourself!
I haven't really used the IGTV feature yet but it seems useful for people who already make video content like yourself! I'll have to check out your channel to learn more about NYC :) And bringing #ownyoursass to IGTV sounds like a great idea!

I think it would be interesting if you did a vlog style or behind the scenes of one of your shoots! I'd definitely watch that :)
