Happy New Year and hello 2021! This year is going to be amazing and I am thrilled to welcome abundance, prosperity, new opportunities/ adventures and love into my life. I know that most of us are happy that 2020 is over because we have turned over a new leaf and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store for us this year. There is definitely a new wave of energy that I haven’t felt before. Usually when a new year comes around, I feel like most of us are still waking up from the holiday slump and struggling to fight the winter blues. For some reason, however, I feel awake and ready to tackle this year with full force.
Instead of writing new years resolutions, I have decided to write monthly goals for myself and I think this will be my third year doing it, so it has become part of my routine. I love being able to reflect on my previous month’s goal and I enjoy focusing on the goals that I want to achieve within the current month because not only does it hold me accountable but writing them down serves as my first step in putting them into action.
Before I jump into writing down what I want to achieve for January, let’s revisit what I wanted to achieve last December. My first goal was to finish my book and I don’t think I’ve actually completed that since it’s not 100% done. I am actually working on two different writing projects so I’m a bit torn in which direction I want to go, but I think I will find clarity in that area this month. I wanted to wrap up my fourth season of my podcast The City Confessions, which I have done, so if you are looking for something new to listen to, head over to my website and you can binge my latest episodes!
I also wanted to plan a staycation and I’m happy that I was able to not only do one, but two! I stayed at The Langham and also The William Vale, so both were great experiences to satisfy the explorer in me. Last but not least, I wanted to bake some holiday cookies or get a gingerbread house and I was able to do something to that extent. I made these no bake oatmeal bites and had some delicious cookies from Nourish so I feel satisfied in my approach to that goal.
JANUARY 2021 GOALS
- Get Clear on my Writing Direction: This year I will publish a book. I am putting this out into the universe and I am going to manifest this into reality. The question is which route I will take, so I want to get clear on my writing direction so I can work towards the necessary steps to making this happen.
- Have a Plan for Podcast: The fifth season of The City Confessions will go live this month on January 25 with a solo episode featuring me. I need to plan out my guests for February as well as the scheduled recordings so I can be on track with my schedule.
- Read one book:Â I have been off my reading game for a while and I am making it an effort to get back on it by picking up one book for January.
- Do something fun for my birthday: My birthday is on January 27 and I know that there isn’t a lot of options in terms of celebrations but I still want to make sure I do something fun because who doesn’t want to have fun on their birthdays? Maybe I can spend a weekend somewhere or find something creative in the city. I don’t need or want anything big but I do want to be surrounded by the people that I love.
As I am writing out my goals, I want to reiterate my excitement for this month. I believe starting the year right with a positive mindset is important as it affects the tone for the following months and eventually the rest of the year!

Thank you Margot! I hope you have a great January too 🙂
Monthly goals sound so much better and durable than new years resolution, I never made those but I like this idea. Reading one book a month is certainly something I’d like to add to mine.
Hope you’ll be able to do something fun and unforgettable for your birthday despite all the restrictions.

A staycation is a great way to feel like you’re going away without the hassle of actually going away 🙂
Setting goals makes me feel so organized and rest assured! I love seeing people setting goals, too! Love your 2021 goals!

Thank you! Monthly goals are more achievable and I think they are easier to implement as we usually operate on a weekly schedule.
I feel the same way about 2021. Really excited!

It’s been easier to keep myself accountable!
Reading one book in January is such a great goal! I can’t wait to hear what you’ve been reading. I’ve been reading “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” series. I’m on book two! That is exciting that it is your birthday month!

I haven’t read that book but the movie was amazing! I am currently reading Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R. Hawkins and it’s amazing!

Thank you!
Good luck with all of your goals for the year ahead! I hope you can achieve everything you want to even if the year hasn’t started as well as we would have liked!
Hope that you are having a great weekend 🙂
It can be difficult to maintain a positive mindset but I think this year will have a positive turning point!
Setting monthly goals sounds definitely better than yearly goals because they’re much easier to follow along! Read one book – this is definitely such an amazing goal. I read 3 to 4 books a month and this makes me so happy!
