Am I the only one who feels odd about the fact that we’re in June but I feel like the last few months have been such a blur and nothing actually happened? I guess it’s because we have been all quarantine at home and it’s still a bit surreal to grasp my head around what we’re currently facing. A part of me feels like I have nothing to report or say and my creativity has been lacking. However, I am happy that I have these monthly goals check in because they not only give me something to look forward to each month, but also forces me to do some self analysis and reflection.

I just checked my monthly goals for May and I already know that I have not met some of them. With that being said, I want to remind you all that it’s okay to not check off everything on your to do list. Do I think we should all try our best and accomplish what we have set for ourselves?  Certainly! But do I think it’s also okay that we may not successfully complete all our tasks? Yes especially given what’s happening in the world right now. My may goals were to send care packages to friends, make bread from scratch, connect with more people and prioritize sleep. Out of those four, I can say that I did connect with more people as I have been joining virtual hang out sessions with strangers and I have prioritized sleep to the fullest because I have been (on average) sleeping like a baby the last four weeks. I unfortunately didn’t get around to creating care packages for my friends and I did not get a chance to make bread from scratch even though I had all intentions of doing so. I used this month to be easy on myself and to go with the flow so I will simply take those goals into next month or put them “save for later.”

As we are welcoming warmer weather and hopefully more opportunities to be with our loved ones and friends, my main goals for June are:

  • Have a safe gathering with my friends: Currently as of today, Governor Cuomo has allowed gatherings of 10 people in NYC, so I am hoping I can see some of my friends in a safe manner, whether that’s hanging out in my rooftop or having a picnic. I want to reiterate that I will be abiding by all the safety rules and keeping up to date with any changes as the month progresses. I love summer and a big part of that is hanging out with my friends so I am hoping I get to experience that in some way, shape or form.
  • Repurpose content: Now that I cannot travel, I have been going more into my travel archives and realized that I have so much content from my past trips that I have not been repurposing as much as I should. The smarter way to go about creating content is to utilize it as much as possible so I am making it a priority this month to resurface those images on my social, especially Instagram. Not only is this a smart way to give more exposure to my photos but also takes the pressure off of me to create new content.
  • Reorganize apartment: I have signed another year at my apartment and I would love to give it a new facelift. I actually love my apartment and I’m not planning to do a whole makeover, but I think it’ll be nice to change a few things here and there and to jazz it up. I’m sure this will be an ongoing project and process so I won’t be surprised if this trickles to July and August. I have learned from last year that when it comes to decorating and anything home-related, patience is key. I love home decor, so this is a goal that I’m really looking forward to!
  • Wrap up my podcast: For those of you who don’t know, I have a podcast, The City Confessions and I am going to wrap up my third season by the end of this month. I am really proud of myself for being consistent with my episodes and schedule. I just want to use this month to make sure I select all the right guests for the last few episodes and of course record my solo one to end season 3!

What are your main goals for the month of June? I would love to hear what is currently happening in your lives and how you are planning to spend this summer!
