MAY 2020 GOALS

It’s May and I know last month has been difficult for all of us considering the pandemic but I feel like this month will be better. I think that’s partly due to the upcoming beautiful weather and partly because I’m trying to be optimistic and positive about our future. During these unprecedented times, the best way I am coping with what’s happening is basically embracing this time at home. I think it’s completely natural for all of us to go through phases but I have taken a step back and reassessed the reality we are all experiencing.

My mindset has definitely shifted and I am looking at this time as a message from the universe. This is a beautiful opportunity for all of us to reset. The universe is actually granting us all a break to do whatever we want. Think about how rare that is. Once I adopted that mindset, I have become more reflective in my goals and what I want to achieve during this time.

As I look back in my April goals, I actually am proud of how I handled last month. My four main goals were to continue my online courses, get creative with content, stick with my workout routine and to think outside of the box in terms of projects. I finished my four courses last week and they were actually very interesting and definitely helped to fill up some of my schedule. The photos in this post were also taken in my apartment, so that was my way of experimenting with creating content at home. My workout schedule has probably been one of the most consistent things since quarantine. Given that I am not moving as much, being active and working out is a non negotiable for me. And lastly, I have finished my 1,000 piece puzzle (which was extremely difficult by the way!), and recently picked up origami as my order finally came from Amazon.

For the next 31 days, here are my main goals that I want to achieve for May:

  1. Send packages to friends: I have always loved giving gifts and I think this is the perfect time for me to start making care packages for my friends. I have sent out some letters last month, but I think it would be nice to send thoughtful gifts too. It makes me happy knowing that I can brighten their days!
  2. Successfully make bread from scratch: I love baking and I have mastered my original banana bread recipe, but I want to challenge myself to make bread from scratch. This is more of a fun activity but I also know it’s difficult so let’s see how I do at the end of the month!
  3. Do more collaborations/ Connect with new people: When I say collaborations, I am not referring to paid partnerships. I am talking about Instagram lives, virtual panels, etc. I took time in April for myself but I am ready to start branching out again. I would love to see how others and I can work during this time.
  4. Prioritize sleep: I know I’m not the only one when I say my sleep schedule has been all over the place. I have found that my sleep has suffered due to my anxiety and insomnia but I really want to use next month as a way to not only fix my sleeping schedule, but to improve it because sleep and health goes hand in hand.

As great as it sounds for to make these goals, I am also very considerate of what’s going on and realize that so much of the future is uncertain. I am still taking it day by day but I will say that the beginning of all obstacles are usually the hardest. I feel like we have accepted our reality, so the best we can do is focus on how we handle it. I am wishing you all a safe month ahead and let me know what your main goal is for May.

  • Yes this time is a double edged sword. I have put myself on a daily schedule to keep myself on track and I find there is not enough time in the day for all that I am doing. And I did make bread, yeast free so it was kind of like corn bread.

  • Sending packages or gifts to your friends is cute. Definitely try to get those hours in for sleep, sleep is so important another reset for our bodies. Good luck with making bread. My goal is just to keep up this creative streak i'm on. Stay safe : ) xo

  • These are great goals and I think they're on a lot of lists right now. I haven't had the time off since I still go into the office to work. I'd love to get a couple of days off (I actually took a day here and a day there but it got so busy at the office that I paid for it the next day). I guess I'm not really envious of those who do have the extra time, though. My job is secure so there's no anxiety there. I use Unisom and get good sleep most every night. I'd love to take the time to learn a language and/or a new skill and complete some craft projects at home and learn photography (yours looks fabulous and so do you!) and more about running a blog. And bread is a wonderful skill. I have a bread maker that I haven't had out in a while and it would be great to learn to make bread really well with the breadmaker. I have given some thought to sending random friends a little "happy" through Amazon but just haven't done it yet. Best wishes to you in reaching your goals!

    • Thank you for your thoughtful comment Ruth! I am happy that you have a secure job because you are in a very lucky position! I do hope you can take some time to learn a new skill and even photography. There are a lot of free courses online. I am wishing you a great week ahead and hope you can reach some of your goals :)

  • I love that you are taking quarantine as a time for awakening! Sending care packages to friends is such a great idea! I would love to make people smile during this strange time with a care package!

  • I have been trying to make sure I get more and better sleep too. It's not always working but it's a lot better than it was. Also I am making sure to film more video content. xx Jenelle | inspiringwit.com

  • Love your positive thinking! I'm the same way. It's unfortunate that we're in the situation but let's think positive! Things will go back to normal! Great goals doll! Since I moved away from family and friends I found that it really makes me happy to send cards back home. It's something small but I feel like it's better than a comment on social media or a text lol. I've been having similar troubles when it comes to sleeping. It's gotten a bit better as quarantine has continued but it was rough in the middle. Good luck with your goals doll and stay safe!

    • Thank you Des! I hope you have a fabulous weekend ahead and wishing you strength and positive vibes through all this :)

  • I love all of these goals! I think it's such a thoughtful idea to send your friends gift packages! I'm sure it will make them very happy to receive them, especially during this time.

  • Interested to see which bread you will make from scratch! I tried to make soda bread a few weeks ago but I didn't have yeast or self raising flour and it turned out rather hard and flat!

    • Haha, wish my luck because my expectations for my bread are very low but we shall see!
