I want to believe that mermaids exist, partially because they are beautiful creatures and partially because it’d be awesome to think that other beings are out there besides humans and animals. I channeled my fascination with mermaids with this look. The skirt is from Tobi and I absolutely adore the turquoise color. It is fitted tight and flares just a tiny bit at the bottom like a mermaid’s fin. I decided to pair this look up with my Brandy Melville crop knit top. I chose black to tone down the overall outfit because the skirt is so bright. This would also look good with other neutral colors including white or grey.
I am usually a fan of loose and comfortable clothing and I know this particular look is the opposite. Every now and then, I do enjoy wearing outfits that hug my body and give me some shape. What’s so great about this look is that the skirt comes with pockets, which satisfies by need for comfort. Some skirts don’t look good with pockets, but this one does because it’s subtle. The only flaw I found with this skirt is that I do think it’s a bit too long on me. In some angles, I feel like the length overpowers my petite body. I wish the longest part ends right above my knees. For someone who is about 5’6 and taller, I think this would look better because it helps to elongate the body and show enough skin for the legs. However, I think I can still pull this look off but just have to be careful with the shoes and top I choose to wear. So for all my petite girls out there, don’t shy away from longer skirts. You can definitely make it work!
