MY MORNING ROUTINE

Ever since I started to work for myself, I have realized the importance of having a morning routine. As a self-proclaimed boss babe, it’s important to set a disciplined schedule for myself because it is easy to get side tracked and distracted. I used to put the world before myself and what I mean by that was focusing on everything around me instead of dedicating time to focus on my inner being. With that being said, I have decided to share my morning routine and would love to hear about yours as well. I know we all have different jobs, responsibilities and schedules, but I think it would be interesting to hear how we all start our mornings.

I am naturally a morning person and find myself to be the most productive in the morning. Now that I am able to create my own schedule, I usually wake up around 7:30 am as opposed to 6 am. In the past, I also had a habit of checking my phone after turning my alarm but I try my best not to do that anymore. When I feel like I am stressed or just need that extra self care, I will meditate in bed for about 10 minutes before getting up. If I wake up feeling energized and ready to conquer the world, I wake up and get myself ready to go to the gym. Instead of going right away, I now like to take about 30 minutes to an hour to set my intentions for the day. I also write my daily tasks in my planner the day before so I like to go through it to make sure I know what my priority tasks are for the day.

I then head to the gym and do about a 45 minute-60 minute workout and that time is my time to really recharge my body. I absolutely love working out because there is no better feeling than having endorphins run through your body. Plus there are tons of benefits and I have adopted this into my daily routine and love living a healthy lifestyle. During this time, I also don’t check my phone or answer any text messages or call. This one hour is dedicated to my mind, body and soul. Afterwards, I head home to shower and get ready for the day. This routine usually ends around 11 am, which is where I transition into work mode.

As you all know, my daily schedule varies depending on what I have scheduled which can include meetings, photoshoots, events, writing blog posts, editing photos, etc. Even though my daily schedule changes, for the most part my morning routine does not. I think having a consistent morning schedule is great way to develop healthy habits. I have found this morning routine to work for me but I know everybody is different. Let me know what your morning routine consists of and if there’s one thing you always do!

  • I usually work out in the evenings, or for a break in the afternoon if I need to get away from my desk and screens. It is so nice to not wake up to an alarm and really make sure you have your set intentions for the day, I agree!

    • I'm glad you are still able to squeeze a workout even for the evenings. I personally find myself tired towards the night so I love working out in the morning to get me started for the day. But love that you found a routine that works for you!

  • oooo your morning routine is inspiring!! Lately I've been quite conscious of going on my phone before bed and checking it when waking - I try and avoid it, too. Apparently it helps you sleep a lot deeper. I was wondering, do you have breakfast before or after your workout? I've started working out in the mornings, too, but I always feel that I have to eat something before I get to the gym to stop myself from feeling light headed. I used to be such a night owl, so getting up at 7:30 is still really early for me!

    • Hi darling! I actually train fasted because I personally don't like to workout right with a full stomach, but it's all up to you! If you feel light headed, I would suggest eat something small like a banana. And it's totally fine that you are a night owl as we all operate differently depending on our lifestyles and bodies. I would recommend getting up 15 minutes earlier every week to set yourself up for waking up earlier if that's your goal!

  • Our morning routines are kinda similar! I always wake up at 6 am, meditate for 10 minutes, read for a while and then go to the gym before heading to work. I love waking up before everyone else - it's so quiet and relaxing :)

  • I love your cute yellow striped dress, especially the ruffled shoulders. That's so pretty for spring and summer! I used to do workout in the morning, and yes, makes you feel energized throughout the day. I definitely need to do it more often.
