MY THREE FAVORITE FACIAL MASKS

If there’s one thing that I definitely care about as I’m getting older is skincare! When I was younger, I suffered from acne and blemishes as I’m sure all of you have. I had a constant battle with my skin as I wasn’t sure which products to use and my goal was to achieve flawless skin and to feel comfortable leaving my home without makeup. I can proudly say that through my research on products that are best suited for my combination skin and trial and error, I am at a great place with my skin at the moment.

As a blogger, I also get sent many products from PR companies and usually receive goody bags from events. I am so appreciative of these opportunities because they have allowed me to explore new brands that I otherwise wouldn’t have known. I love trying out facial masks because it’s a great way for me to pamper myself and unwind at night, but I also get excited to see how my skin reacts to it since there are so many different facial masks out in the market right now. I always listen to my skin’s needs so if I feel like my skin is dry, I will go for a hydrating one. Likewise, if my skin feels a bit irritated, I will go for a more calming, detoxing one.

The best part of facial masks is that it’s a one time deal. Unlike moisturizers, serums and toners, I don’t have to commit to a bottle since I can make an assessment after using it (though I do understand many other factors play into the result as well). Today, I decided to list five of my go to facial masks and why I love them:

  1. Purpletale 5 Steps to Lovely Skin: Don’t be put off by the title of this mask since it’s 5 steps. As you might have already guessed, this is from a Korean skincare line and I love Korean products because I think they work well with my asian skin. I love this mask because it’s very hydrating and I like to use all 5 steps process the night before I travel. I find that it really plumps my skin and gives it the refreshing feel that I lack when I am on a flight. This is also perfect to travel with since it contains all the essentials including cleanser, treatment, moisturizer and mask. I would highly recommend this if you are always on the go, travel frequently and love a convenient mask that has everything you need!

  2. Lena & Lina Detox Mask Bio- Cellulose Facial Mask: I was introduced to this brand recently and I was intrigued because the skincare line is based on the fermentation of soy residue and was formulated and developed in Japan. I knew right away that I had to try the mask after reading that the ingredients contain Kombucha tea because we all know that kombucha does wonders for your body. I also have been looking for a detox mask since most of the ones that I have are hydrating. I can’t explain how much I love this mask and you should really try it if you want a mask that transforms your skin after 20 minutes! I was afraid that this might irritate my skin because it was categorized as a detox mask and I have sensitive skin. However, this is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates and you know reading that makes my skin smile. The mask has a high dosage of serum which is why I think it really helped to calm my skin. I definitely will be using this whenever I feel like my skin needs recovery.

  3. Tula Skincare Exfoliating Treatment: If you’ve never heard of the Tula Brand then I must assume you’ve been living under a rock. Tula is one of my favorite skincare brands of all time because the products are formulated with probiotic technology. I used to think that if I used one product from a certain line, I had to use all of them in order for them to work properly. I don’t hold this belief anymore, but I will say that the range of Tula products actually work well together and it’s a great, balanced line that does wonders for my skin. I am obsessed with their exfoliating treatment because it’s gentle on my skin and that’s pretty rare since my skin is super sensitive when it comes to exfoliators. This clay mask doesn’t strip away my skin and I don’t get a tingly, uncomfortable feeling. My skin feels smoother after using this and I tend to reach for this at least once a week.

Currently, I have been loving all three of these masks and I find that they all serve a different purpose. I am always on the lookout for new masks or skincare products but keep in mind that I have combination and sensitive skin. Let me know what you’re currently using as I would love to check them out!

  • I am obsessed with masks and especially sheet masks. I love that the Purpletale 5 Steps to Lovely Skin has all the five steps on the mask! This would be great for traveling. I usually do a sheet mask on the plane on international flights lol. Tula is one of my favorite exfoliating masks too. I love the clean feeling after I use it. I haven't tried the other detox mask but anything Komboucha sign me up! Thanks for sharing these masks with us! xoxo, Christine

    • I'm glad I'm not the only one who puts on a facial mask during international flights as well! It's a great way to treat yourself and I love the Tula one too!

    • Kombucha is so good for you! It's always interesting to see that some ingredients great for your body are also good to put on your face as a mask :)

  • Thanks for sharing your different products for skin care. I have been plagued with acne at different times and have no idea of what causes it so this post is great. Will check that out.

    • Facial masks are great to combat acne. I think you should just research specific ones that target that problem area, but personally I've found the exfoliating ones to help!

  • The Tula exfoliating mask looks most interesting. I'm such a huge fan of face masks, I use one at least every other day since the air conditioning in the summer dries out my skin. and it's a great way to cool down too :)

    • Facial masks are such a great way to pamper yourself and unwind. I love doing it weekly :)

  • I'm obsessed with the masks and I'm really interested to experience more and more . My skin is very grateful for that . I love first to use the scrub after cleansing well so the ingredients can penetrate better.
After my pool sessions I'm always try to rehydrate my skin. Thanks.

    • I'm so glad you love masks as much as I do! I also try to take care of my skin after working out :)

  • I love me some face mask, the detox one would be my favorite. Thanks for sharing love, you look beautiful.

    • Thank you love! And yes detox masks are definitely necessary in order to keep your skin healthy.

    • I think as women growing up we all had some type of skin concerns especially battling with hormones and puberty. Most of the time it's a phase but I'm so glad my skin has felt healthier and clearer now. I also prefer self applying masks rather than sheet masks but I feel like the sheet masks are more hydrating compared to the others.

  • Hmm, I haven't heard of any of these ones. I have to say I am also a huge mask fan! I tend to use mud masks or charcoal masks the most, but I have some moisturising ones as well. At the moment I am loving Peter Thomas Roth. SO good!

    • I haven't tried any products from the Peter Thomas Roth line but I've heard amazing reviews. It's always difficult because I am torn with staying with the products that work for my skin while also wanting to branch to others out of simple curiosity!

  • Oh hun, you know I'm a mask addict and reading about these three, to me, unknown brands was really great and I especially want to try the detox mask. I'm currently using sheet masks with lots of serum in them from a company called Verso and totally love them. You should give it a try if you can get your hands on it! :)

    • Thank you for the recommendation love! I've never heard of Verso but if you're recommending it, I know it must be good :)
