Over the past month, I have become more cautious of taking care of my soul. I know the whole movement of self love might seem overdone, but in my books, there can be no such thing as too much attention or emphasis on the importance of self care. I truly believe that finding happiness starts within yourself and once you discover your inner peace, you are able to enjoy life to the fullest. I strive everyday to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle and that not only includes taking care of my body by exercising and eating right, but also checking in with my feelings and overall mental state of mind.
Due to my passion for wellness, I have decided to incorporate more of this topic not only on my blog but also throughout my social platforms. I think it’s extremely important to be one with your soul and I am hoping that people make more of an effort to checking in with their moods because we experience million different feelings in a day and we should acknowledge them. I always embrace my feelings and allow myself to “feel all the feels” but I’ve never actually taken a step back to ask why. Once I started to incorporate meditation into my daily routine and setting my intentions for the day, I began to see the world differently. I finally saw it for all its beauty and I can proudly say I have also found the light in me.
Whether you’re starting your wellness journey or don’t know how to get started, I hope these top 5 wellness tips will help you live a healthier lifestyle:
- Make sure you get adequate sleep: I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like sleep, but I do know many people who don’t get enough sleep. We’ve all heard this growing up, but sleep is very important if you want to live a healthy life. Not only is it essential to recharge, but it allows your body and brain to recover from a day’s activities. Think about everything you do from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. We put ourselves through a lot and we don’t dedicate enough time to rest. Personally, I strive for at least 7 hours of sleep because I realize that my body functions a lot better. I usually wake up energized and that allows me to conquer the day without feeling sluggish or tired. It also goes without saying that I’m at a much better mood in the morning and that allows me to start my day on a positive note.
- Incorporate meditation into your daily routine: Following sleep is meditation. I know meditation might not be for everybody, but I can promise that everybody can benefit from it. Many might argue that they don’t have time to meditate, but I think you can find your own type of meditation. You don’t have to sit in silence for 30 minutes if that’s not your thing. It’s important to remember that we all have to start somewhere even if that means to meditate for only one minute. I started to meditate for 10-15 minutes every morning and I must say that I am much calmer and relaxed. Dedicating me time in the morning is such a great way to put yourself before the world. I challenge you to not check your phones first thing in the morning and spend quality time with yourself. Those first few minutes are so crucial and can really dictate what type of day it will be.
- Get active: I don’t think you can actually introduce wellness into your life if you don’t incorporate some type of physical activity. I love working out because it makes me feel good. The endorphins are addicting and I never regret a workout. I think people make too many excuses for not being active and that usually falls into the line of not having time. This is the same excuse that is most common for my previous two tips of getting enough sleep and meditating. But in reality, we all have 24 hours in a day and we all have responsibilities. If a certain percentage of our population can find time to exercise then you should ask yourself what’s your excuse not to? As I mentioned with meditation, find an activity that you enjoy and remember that working out for only 20 minutes is better than not working out at all.
- Eat Healthy, well balanced dit: I don’t need to explain too much about why eating healthy is good for you, but this is definitely key when it comes to embracing wellness. If you find yourself feeling sluggish and tired throughout the day, examine what you’re putting into your body. If you switch your perspective on food being medicine and your body being a temple, then you are more likely to make healthier choices when it comes to eating. I also encourage balance and eating in moderation because it’s okay to indulge every now and then and treat yourself to your favorite ice cream or cookie. Restriction never ends well, so definitely practice mindful eating.
- Practice self-care: Too often, we are living our lives based off our schedules and don’t take enough time to put ourselves first. I like to practice self care by dedicating Sunday evenings to myself. I normally like to take a bubble bath, do a face mask and just relax. I highly recommend finding some type of relaxing activity and incorporate it into your week because we can’t just go, go, go. We need to be able to take a step back and just do absolutely nothing and enjoy the company of yourself.
Although these tips might not seem new, I sure do hope you guys found them helpful. Being a native New Yorker has molded me to become a hustler, but as I’ve grown older, I am learning to take it easy and valuing wellness and health above all.

I am a huge advocate for living a more well-balanced and healthy life and you have hit the jackpot with these tips! I would like to say I do all of these, but in truth, mediation is something I just haven't been able to stick to. What I've been doing as of recent is following along some of the Boho Beautiful yoga classes or mediation routines on YouTube as my little way of connecting with my inner self and soul. We're making steps there. And sleep! I couldn't stress about this one enough so I'm glad to see you put it first. Hope you're well! xx

I'm usually the type that goes all in with meditation or not at all, but so far I've been doing it everyday. I think it's great to not beat ourselves up for it and to find what works for our schedules!
These are really great wellness tips! I've started realizing the older I get just how important sleep is, and getting enough really does wonders for my mental health. Also, thank you for the reminder that I need to add meditating into my daily routine! I've done it before but I usually forget to do it every day.

It's hard to do it everyday but if you schedule it in like you do for brushing your teeth, then it becomes a habit! I find that it helps when I do this first thing in the morning :)
I think self care and getting enough sleep are the most important.
Love this topic babe.

Thank you and I'm glad you found it helpful!
Keeping yourself well and healthy is so important and at the same time we tend to neglect ourselves the most. I've been totally guilty of this the past few months which is why I can see my skin has been breaking out and I am just getting so lazy. I definitely need to get more sleep and also eat better. Thanks for these helpful tips and reminders. I definitely need to get on it! BTW, love those striped trousers! xoxo, Christine

Thank you Christine! And yes we need to listen to our bodies because they are a great way to let us know how we feel!
Sleep is super important, and I love a good power nap to keep me energised, and improve my mood on stressful days!

So happy that you have found the light within you. I'm also very interested into wellness and try to practice it every day in different ways.
