Rooftop season is finally here and I’m sure all my New Yorkers have been feeling the heat within the past week. Summer is the best time to go out for drinks at night with your friends and just enjoy the New York City lifestyle. My girls and I tend to look for rooftop bars and restaurants because who doesn’t want to dine outside when it’s warm outside? Below are 5 top rated rooftop restaurants in New York City that I wanted to share. These are on my list to visit this summer, so I will definitely let you know my reviews after going.

  1. Right in the heart of Times Square is the St. Cloud Social Rooftop at the Knicker Boxer. I love that they have both indoor and outdoor seating because it can get chilly during summer nights, so you can have the option of sitting inside instead. The food and cocktail menu look delicious, so I definitely added this on my list to checkout this summer. They are located right near Times Square so this would be a good idea to also watch a broadway show or movie either after or before your meal.
  2. The Financial District is a huge attraction in the City this summer so if you are near there, Rooftop 93 is the best place to visit since it is located on the Lower East Side in Chinatown, which is actually near where I reside. The bar is known for its unbeatable happy hour deals and breathtaking view of New York City. They are on 93 Bowery Street, on the 18th floor, right on top of the Wyndham Hotel.
  3. If you love Mexican Food and also love Rooftop bars, then definitely visit Cantina Rooftop. I’ve actually been here before so I can vouch that the venue is super adorable and modern. The combination of its beautiful exterior designs and New York City landscape would make the perfect location for those cute summer Instagram pictures.
  4. Bar 54 is known as New York’s highest rooftop bar!! 54 stories up high, this place is the perfect place to go and hangout after work for happy hour drinks or even after a day of touring New York City. Bar 54 is located at the Hyatt right in Times Square and they even have igloo like bubbles. If you are hungry, T45 Restaurant of the Hyatt is right next to the rooftop bar, so it’s very convenient to get to. I actually haven’t been here and this is probably on top of my list!
  5. The Press Lounge is another great rooftop to visit if you are around Hell’s Kitchen. They are located at the Ink 48 Hotel and they have delicious cocktails and unbeatable views from Hell’s Kitchen. This is a great place to dine, drink and hang out with your friends.

If you are a NYC local or have spent summer in the city, have you ever been to any of these rooftop bars? If so, which is your favorite and if not, which would you like to go the most?

    • Yes that would be an amazing idea! Are you planning a trip to NYC at all this summer?

  • The weather has been mental here in NYC! It was summer hot a few days ago and now we've got rain and cooler temps all over again. I'm looking forward for warmer temps to stay but actually dread the 90+ degree weather. As far a rooftop bars go I like the one on top of The Standard Hotel. The crowd can be a bit shi-shi but the cocktails are bar none.

    • I think it's inevitable to bump into crowds during this time of year but it's part of the fun especially when you're outside and on a rooftop.

    • Yes definitely! I love rooftop bars so it would be a great idea for the summer.

  • You're so right that rooftop season is officially here. I live in LA and write about restaurants and bars here and I cannot WAIT to explore more rooftops this season. Oooh thanks for the idea and for the motivation to pull out a cute outfit and get to having photos taken on a gorgeous rooftop! And if I can squeeze a NYC trip in this summer I know where to go thanks to this post =]

  • Rooftop bars are the best and even better that it's finally warm outside! Those are things I've never experienced visiting NYC, but next time I go, I'm going to make it a priority to visit one. I adore your striped romper too. I posted one recently too :)

    • Thank you love! I've been enjoying romper a lot when it's warm outside since it's so easy to wear.

  • I'm so glad you did a post on rooftop bars in NYC because when I went in February it was right during Super Bowl weekend and they were all closed when I tried to go (cries). I will definitely have to check some of these out next time I'm there!

    • Rooftop bars are amazing especially for the summer! You need to visit if you're in NYC during this time of year :)

  • YAY for this post! As I have a few days off prior and post NYFWM I'll make sure to check out at least two of them (won't have time for all five unfortunately) out. I love rooftop bars and what better place to enjoy them in than the birthplace of skyscrapers! :) Thank for a great guide!
