I was fortunate to attend a Kiehl’s Healthy Skin Consultation event a few weeks ago and wanted to share my experience. I had a one-on-one consultation  with Kiehl’s trained expert, who gave me a detailed analysis of my skin. He confirmed and identified my skin type as combination, but he also took my hydration level and told me that my skin was a bit dehydrated. Considering that it has been warm in the city, it doesn’t surprise me and actually reminds me to drink more water!

The best part of the consultation was that the expert customized a Kiehl’s skincare routine just for me. I usually like to test skincare products for at least two weeks to see the results, but I have been blown away by the products Kiehl’s gifted me because I instantly saw results within a couple of days. I didn’t always have the best skin growing up and was quite insecure with my acne and blemishes. Maybe it was due to puberty, but I have seen a drastic increase in my skin’s texture and overall appearance after adopting a skincare routine. I also like to listen to my skin since it has different needs depending on the weather.

Since we are now approaching summer, the two main things that I look for are products that give me hydration and vitamin C as well as SPF. Here are the five products that I was recommended and my initial thoughts:

  • Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This was the product that I was looking forward to the most because I have heard amazing reviews about this elixir online. It claims to restore “skin’s healthy appearance overnight, resulting in smoother, more radiant complexion by morning.” And I am here to confirm that that claim is correct! I love how soft the nighttime oil feels on my skin and how effortlessly it glides on. It’s hard to say if this is the one product that has made my skin more clear, but I honestly wake up feeling refreshed and sometimes don’t even feel the need to wear makeup!
  • Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate: During my one-on-one consultation, I mentioned to the skincare expert that I sometimes get redness especially when I work out. At times, I also feel like my skin is a bit dull and dehydrated. This product claims to “plump skin, smoothing the appearance of fine lines and texture while significantly reducing the look of dull, tired-looking skin that can be caused by age-related dehydration.” I didn’t have much expectation for this product, but it’s definitely one to try out if you’re looking for a new serum! Again, I enjoy the texture because it’s a thin serum that goes on smoothly on your face. I definitely think this product has helped my skin look more “plump” and awake.
  • Kiehl’s Powerful- Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate: I knew this product would do wonders for my skin because it contains 12.5% Vitamin C and as we all know, Vitamin C helps with collagen production and maintenance and also helps with skin protection. This concentrate claims to “decrease appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve radiance and texture.” This in conjunction with the Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate makes for a great skin skincare routine!
  • Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer: If you have sensitive skin like me, then you know how anxious it is to try new products in fear of having a bad reaction. My skincare expert recommended this product because it “reduces visible signs of stress including skin fatigue, redness and dehydration.” Stress is something we all deal with, but what people don’t realize is that it can have an effect on your skin. I stress easily, so I depend on this product to help reduce skin fatigue. I also love that it helps with redness and dehydration because as I mentioned previously, these are some of my main concerns especially in the summer.
  • Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense Sunscreen: Last but not least, a skincare routine isn’t complete without sunscreen! A lot of us forget to wear sunscreen on a daily basis or only put it on when we are out in the sun, but it is one of the most essential items you should have in your skincare routine. This sunscreen has SPF 50+ and is fragrance free, non-comedogenic and paraben-free! One of my complaints with most sunscreen is that it is greasy and thick, but this is the total opposite. It is lightweight and doesn’t stick to your hands after applying it over your body. Just remember to reapply at least 2 hours!

Overall, I had an amazing time with Kiehl’s and I am grateful to have one of their skincare experts give me a one-on-one consultation because I know that these products have been recommended and catered based on my skin type and needs. So far, I have been LOVING how my skin looks and it’s honestly a great feeling to wake up to refreshed, hydrated and smooth skin. If you’ve tried Kiehl’s before, let me know your thoughts and what your favorite product from their line is!

Yes, it’s important to not just buy skincare products based on reviews. I think it’s better if you have them personally recommended by a skincare expert!

It’s so exciting to get a personal skin analysis. I got mine a while ago and was surprised to find out I was basically all wrong when it came to what type I truly had. Out with the old products and in with new ones… and I’ve got like a ton, haha. Thanks for the tips about these Kiehl’s products, some of which I haven’t heard of before!

I think our skin changes depending on the environment and weather so it’s good to get a skin analysis every now and then.
