So you’ve spent all your effort, time and dedication creating content and you realize that it’s not getting the visibility, attention and recognition that it deserves. How many of you can relate to this struggle? It’s probably more prevalent on Instagram than other social media platforms since the algorithm doesn’t really support a long shelf life. Since we don’t have control over how Instagram chooses to show our content to the masses, we can be strategic and repurpose that content on other platforms, especially those that are SEO driven like Pinterest and Youtube.
For the longest time, I was showcasing my beautiful captures on Instagram only, but I am learning the importance of SEO and that’s why I’m been more drawn to showcasing my content on Pinterest. I used to have the mentality that Pinterest was made for interior designers and recipe creators, but I’ve learned that as long as someone is searching for something in particular on Pinterest, then your content can show up. I personally believe Pinterest is a powerhouse and is a bit underrated when it comes to content recognition and visibility.
To give some insights into my own stats, I’ve had a Pinterest account for maybe a year and I had some boards here and there that housed my travel photos. At the time, I didn’t know anything about keywords, or descriptions so I wasn’t really optimizing the boards or the pins. Thankfully for Clubhouse, I’ve learned tips on how to improve my Pinterest profile and presence and I used tweaks here and there and I can proudly say I went from 40K+ monthly views to currently over 600K+ views, which is an insane jump in impressions, reach and engagement.
– Create a Pinterest business account and set it up with bio, photo and SEO keywords (keep in mind this is how people will find you so make sure you focus on a niche and it’s consistent with your brand/ content on other platforms)
– Claim your website and other social media platforms (that way when people land on your page, you can direct them to your other platforms)
– Conduct keyword research and guided search to plan your content strategy for your account and boards (do this by typing out words or themes in Pinterest and sees what comes up in the search)
– Create a few boards and use long tail keywords in the description as well as the pins (use the information you’ve gathered from the research and make sure you also organize and optimize boards as you create them)
– Take full advantage of idea pins (this is a new feature that Pinterest has been pushing out and it’s basically a combination of Instagram stories/reels and carousel)
– Be consistent and watch your engagement and impressions increase daily (just like any other platforms, you have to be patient and be consistent)
Please also remember that when it comes to Pinterest, your views, engagement, impressions and reach will fluctuate. It really depends on what’s trending at the moment. For example, I had a Tulum board for a while but during April of this year, there were more views than usual because it was a popular time for people to travel, specifically to Tulum so those pins gained more attention. The best part about Pinterest is that once you create your pins and boards, they live on your page and will always be SEO driven! I’ve always been an advocate for working smarter and not harder so the next time you’re creating content, know that you can repurpose them on other platforms too.

Let me know how it goes for you!
That's such good advice. I finally started sharing my videos from IG to Pinterest. Might as well use them over and over.

Absolutely, it's all about repurposing content!
Great advice, Mariann! I basically use my Pinterest account as a great collection of bookmarks. LOL1 But I do put my own work on it. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the SEO aspect.

I had no idea that Pinterest was so SEO driven until I joined Clubhouse and started to listen to experts in the field and I have been convinced by the long term benefits :)
I was really into growing my Pinterest for awhile and this is a good reminder that I need to get back to it. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome! I take breaks here and there too.
Really great tips here. I've been struggling with pinterest for a while but dedicating more time to creating fresh content for it lately.
I'm sure if you put in the work, you'll see the results :)
You know I have had a Pinterest account for years but stopped using a long time ago. But I may go back to it, this was interesting post. I have to say I have spoken to many people who are fed up with IG myself included. I just can not be bothered with that APP anymore and I detest FB and its founder MZ so that doesn't help lol. Do you know if you already have a Pinterest account can you switch it from a non business account to a business account?

Absolutely! I actually had a personal account and I changed it to business. It's just as easy as it was on Instagram!
Great advice in this post. Pinterest can be a bit of a minefield at times, can't it? Great idea with idea pins too!
Thanks for sharing :)

Yes I agree! I have found myself feeling overwhelmed at times but it's all about being strategic with the time allotted for it.
I need to re-think my pinterest content, but honestly i don't have much time for that... so sad, because I had more than 200K impressions per month!
Let's see if I can organize myself better this "new school year" ;)
Have a lovely week!

200K impressions is impressive! It will still keep going. I definitely agree that it does take time and it can be exhausting but I found that if I schedule it in my tasks and limit my time, then it makes the process easier.
These are amazing tips...thanks for sharing dear :-)

This is such a helpful post, Mariann! Thank you so much for sharing! I have had a Pinterest account for over a year, but have not been making use of it's potential!
