SEPTEMBER 2020 GOALS

Can you guys believe that we’re already in September? I can’t believe we’ve actually survived summer in a pandemic but August was a pretty good month as I had expected and hoped for. Despite the heat and the sporadic rainy days, I enjoyed August mainly because it was filled with two important events that I had mentioned in my August monthly goals post. I love the transition from August to September because the weather gets chillier and it’s a reminder that fall is approaching!

As I reflect back on my main four goals for August, I am happy to say that I have accomplished three in its entirety. My first goal was to enjoy my friend’s wedding and my mini getaway (which I recapped in my previous post about Woodhouse Lodge here). I had no expectations for my friend’s wedding, but it was actually so much fun and I’m truly happy that the wedding happened since I know she went through a lot of trouble with her original venue. I love love and I was grateful to be part of her special day.

My second goal was to pick my podcast The City confessions back up for season 4, which I certainly have. Currently there are six new episodes, so if you haven’t already, be sure to check that out on Spotify and iTunes. I also wanted to prioritize therapy last month and I was consistent as I had one session a week for four weeks total. I think I will do a separate post on my  thoughts because there’s a lot I can unpack from my experience. And lastly, I wanted to pick up reading again and this is the goal where I fall short. I did start a book and read for the first week of August, but then I fell off track because I was dealing with my mental health and put more focus on my therapy sessions. However, in replacement, I did start writing consistently so I’m okay with that goal changing it in its form.

For the month of September, I have come up with the below three goals:

  1. Find a new job/project: I’m sure all of us can agree that this pandemic has truly made us turn inwards. I have been reflecting a lot about where I am professionally and I have decided to explore new opportunities. I’m at a phase in my life where I want to see what else is out there and how else I can apply myself to grow intellectually. I am putting this goal into the universe so I can manifest it into reality.
  2. Host a small gathering in my rooftop: I am very well aware that it will get colder in the next few months and one of the advantages I have in my building is a rooftop with a beautiful view. I haven’t hosted anything this summer due to the pandemic but I definitely want to do a cheese and wine night or a brunch day one of these upcoming weekends. It will be small and causal but still fun and will satisfy the hostess in me.
  3. Do a safe NYC activityNew York has been doing very well with the pandemic and we have outdoor dining, but I have noticed that there are other cool activities that are allowed right now as well. I discovered that there is a drive in movie night in Brooklyn, a paint and pour brunch activity and some intimate concerts that are taking place in restaurants. I want to look into these activities and commit myself to one for September.

I think September will be a relaxing month and I think it will finally hit all of us that summer is ending. It will be a bittersweet moment because as we enter the fall, it’s unclear what’s going to happen with flu season approaching. I am maintaining a positive mindset but it’s important to also be realistic and try to plan ahead as much as we could. Let me know what you are looking forward to the most for September!
