SEPTEMBER GOALS

Somebody pinch me because I cannot get over the fact that September actually starts in a few days! I have been completely over my head with everything that’s been on my plate, so it’s no surprise that this is probably the first month which I have not achieved all my set goals. In a way, I am actually happy about that and you must think that’s counter to my monthly goals, but I think it’s inevitable for me to fail eventually. And I italicized fail because I don’t really even consider it failing. Since I started writing monthly goals, with the first post being in January, I have pretty much achieved all of them. If I were to check off all my goals for the month successfully, sure I’ll feel accomplished but there’s also something to be said when I don’t have everything checked off as well.

As I revisit my August goals, I realized that I put my monthly goals just to put goals. However, we all know how busy life gets, so priorities change with time. One of my goals was to start on my secret project. I actually wasn’t able to get that in motion but I was able to start another project, which was my collaborative writing with my best friend Rochelle. As some of you may know, I love writing and was struggling to find ways to showcase them on Instagram. I played around with some methods here and there, but have decided to stick with layering my poems over artwork done by my friend like the one below.

Without knowing, this can well be said to have been my secret project, so it goes to show that things change and it’s okay because I’m really happy with how it came out. I didn’t get my shoe organizer as I planned and I wasn’t able to create new content for my IGTV. But again, I’m actually not mad or disappointed at myself because I had other things that were far more important than those goals. My last goal was to have something planned for every weekend and I definitely did accomplish that as I spent my weekends either working, hanging out with friends and/or had brand weekend trips.

This month was probably the busiest month as I was juggling projects and gearing up for my next trip as well as NYFW. With all of that being said, I have decided to become more strict for my monthly goals for September and have only two main goals.

  1. Solidify next trip: Being the travel addict that I am, I have planned for my next trip to be Paris and Portugal. I have the first part of my trip booked, but my main goal is to have my second half booked as well. I’m the type of person that gets anxious and easily stressed for a trip until I have everything confirmed and set in stone. Right now, I am stuck in Paris as I only booked a one way so I really need to get the second half of my trip down before I can breathe and look forward to September.
  2. Enjoy NYFW: I have been debating how involved I want to be with NYFW as invites have started to come in. My main goal is to not overwhelm myself and take it easy, so that’s exactly what I plan on doing this season. I don’t want to have to stress over what I’m wearing, what shows I’m attending, etc. I want to actually have fun and be in the moment.

September is a strange month because it’s going to be a busy, exciting month for me, but it’s also a bittersweet month as we transition into the fall. Fall is actually my favorite season, but it’s also a reminder that winter is coming. I try not to think too ahead into the future and just focus on what’s before me so before I get too ahead of myself, I am going to welcome September with open arms and positive vibes!
