I will always be a New Yorker and I will also love traveling, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t do staycations. Yes, I live in the city but I still love to explore different neighborhoods every now and then because NYC is huge and there’s always so much to explore. I wanted to challenge my mindset about avoiding Times Square because I never gave it a chance to fully see what it would be like to spend a night in that popular neighborhood.
I had a one night staycation at Aliz Hotel Times Square and it was truly a magical experience. Upon entering, I was greeted with a lovely scent and a gorgeous lobby and huge chandelier that made me forget that I was in midtown Manhattan. The lobby isn’t by any means huge but it also didn’t feel crowded as there were other guests waiting to check in as well. The best part is that the Aliz Hotel Times Square isn’t necessarily right where all the beautiful chaos happens. Instead, it’s a trendy, boutique hotel located on 40th street between 8th and 9th avenue, so it’s a bit more quiet although that might be hard to believe. It’s also extremely convenient as it’s located at the crossroads of Times Square, the Garment
District and Hell’s Kitchen.
Aliz was conceived from a very simple idea: to give you a warm, luxurious place to stay near Times Square that’s worlds apart in ambiance. “
What I love most about Aliz Hotel Times Square is the personalized touch and style of all the details and modern and chic interior. It is also the only hotel that I have stayed at that is NYC Green Hotel Certified, which is an added factor that I truly admire and respect. This among many other reasons is why I believe they also deserve to be nominated for a Travel + Leisure 2019 World’s Best Award!
There are a total of 287 guest rooms and they all come with luxury bedding and unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline along with the below amenities:
• Bluetooth speaker/alarm clock
• Complimentary WiFi
• 50” Samsung Hospitality 4K Technology TVs
• Apparel steamers
• KeurigTM coffee maker
• Dual-headed shower
• Plush bathrobes
• Restaurant delivery
• Pet friendly
• ADA compliant
• Beekman 1802 Fresh Air line bathroom amenities
As a local, I wasn’t looking for an extravagant suite or hotel that had tons of amenities and services. I simply wanted a nice getaway for myself because I believe prioritizing self care and mental health. The bed is in the center of the room which was fine by me as I simply wanted to relax, unwind and simply read a magazine like I would when I was a teenager. I changed into the hotel’s plush robe and I cannot rave enough about how soft it felt on my body. I also loved how bright the room was because it made it feel more open and inviting. The sliding door to the bathroom was also a great touch and I enjoyed the bright lighting in the bathroom as it was perfect for me to do my makeup in the morning.
The other best part about the hotel is their rooftop restaurant/ bar Dear Irving on Hudson which is located on the 40th and 41st floor of the hotel, which is the highest open air hotel bar and lounge in all of Manhattan!
The space offers sweeping 360 degree views of the Manhattan skyline and is complemented by a James Bond inspired interior decor. It is the perfect spot for evening cocktails.
I took a peak before the crowds arrived and the view was better than the one from my room. I lucked out as it was a gorgeous day in the city, so I took advantage of the sun before heading back to my room. I love how cozy and intimate the space was and from what I gathered, the space draws a more mature crowd, which was better for me as I simply don’t like spaces that have young folks as I prefer more relaxing venues.
As I was relaxing in my bed and preparing to fall asleep, I had a moment of realization that I live in the best city in the world and I was super grateful to call NYC my home. Whether you are looking to visit NYC or you currently live here, I would highly recommend checking out Aliz Hotel Times Square because it’s truly a “sanctuary from the city noise.” I don’t have any complaints and I am glad that I gave Times Square a fair chance to win over my heart because it certainly did!
