STORY BEHIND MY HAIR

A lot of people are always fascinated with my hair and think that I dye it all the time. The truth of the matter is, I have dyed it four times over the past six months and yes I will admit that might seem excessive to many of you, but I guess once you start, you can’t stop. I have always wanted a cool and fun color but didn’t have the courage to do so. However, when my dear friend Maayan reached out to me the summer, I felt like it was the opportunity to do something a little crazy.

I went for a pink/blonde look the first time I dyed my hair. I loved the result and thought it was perfect for the summer. I dyed it again around October to purple and that’s when I think a lot of people picked up on my change of hair color. For those of you who are not aware, maintaining colored hair is very difficult and time consuming. Since I don’t see Maayan all the time, it was inevitable for the color to fade but I actually fell in love with the shades after than I did with the purple. I would describe it as ashy purple/silver. I went for the same look the third time and also was very satisfied with the faded results.

This time as shown in the pictures, we were actually going for a blonde balayage look, but my hair decided to make its own decision and it came out grey instead. This is the color after one wash and I think after a month or so it will go even lighter and eventually fade to blonde. That’s just how colors work and for those who can maintain their color, I applaud you! My journey and experience with coloring my hair has interestingly affected my brand and image in a positive way. I don’t see myself going back to my natural color anytime soon, but it doesn’t mean that I never will. Currently, I am loving the freedom of exploring hair color and ultimately finding what works for me.

Let me know if you’ve ever dyed your hair and what you think of my current hair color. Like it or not, I still want to know!

  • You have such a pretty ashy color with your hair and it looks like you maintain it so well! I definitely love the gray hair color on you the most and I think the ashy muted color goes so well with your wardrobe.

    • Thank you Atsuna! My hair color has played a role in my clothing choices because sometimes the colors will clash so I have to be a little more careful especially avoiding grey tones.

  • I hear from different people how hare it is to maintain hair color! I also love this shade on you and although I can't right now due to work related reasons, I'd love to try this kind of pastel shade one day!

    • I think you would totally pull it off. It's a bit annoying that hair colors other than natural are considered inappropriate for work places since I believe it's a way of self expression but hopefully you will be able to do a pastel shade!

    • Thank you Yasmin! I definitely didn't think I would be able to pull it off but I'm getting used to it and loving it!

  • I love that your hair decided to do its own thing and be different. This color is gorgeous and I can't wait to see how it progresses with a few more washes. I am so boring when it comes to hair and literally just try to do color that is the lowest maintenance for me. As a mom of three it's hard to maintain color and drastic changes. If I could though, I would go all blonde! xoxo, Christine

    • You always manage to surprise me! I had no idea you were a mom with three because you definitely are a stylish mom who takes fierce photos :) I used to be scared of dying my hair too but once I did the first plunge, there was no going back. I love that I can explore colors and there's definitely a sense of freedom to it.

    • Thank you Helen! I think you can pull off any colors but the blonde balayage suits you so well :)

  • Girl I am in love with your hair, it looks amazing and keeping doing what makes you happy.

  • Wow, 4 hair color changes in 6 months. I love this color on you. The purple-grey tone is my favourite so far. :) I have never colored my hair. I'm really bad at maintaining it and can't bring myself to get it touched up frequently once it's died. I may have to perm it again though. It gets frizzy at the sight of humidity and rain and I'd love to have maintenance-free hair.

    Xo,

    • I was definitely in your boat prior to coloring my hair. I basically had natural hair for 10 years and I am still very low maintenance but I've been loving exploring colored hair now :)
