SUMMER EVENTS IN THE CITY

I always look forward spending summers in the city because there is so much to do and I love being outdoors when it’s warm outside. As much as I love to brunch on the weekends and going with the flow with my friends, I also make it a priority to seek out events since I love to have a jammed pack day. Summer is just around the corner and if you plan on visiting the city this summer, definitely check these events out.

  • Gay Pride NYC Parade- Sunday June 25, 2017: This is such a big event in New York City and I’ve experienced it a few times in the past and it’s definitely a fun environment to be at. If you are in New York around this parade, be sure to check it out because there’s food, music and overall good vibes. I love supporting the LGBTQ community, so it’s a great way to show support and enjoy the parade with your friends. Last year, there were also a lot of celebrities that attended, so you never know who you might meet!

  • Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in America. If you are a foodie like me, then you won’t miss out on this event! I go every year at least 3x in the summer because it’s a great way to try different foods and enjoy your day in the sun with friends. Smorgasburg is known for unique foods such as the ramen burger and rain drop cakes. I love that there is a wide variety of food, so don’t worry if you are picky or indecisive because there is something for everyone there. Brooklyn is also just a subway ride away from the city, so if you want to avoid the chaos of NYC, check it out!!

  • Governors Ball– Seeing all the pictures from Coachella this year made me realize how much I want to attend a musical festival this summer. New York City is the best place for musical festivals and Governors Ball this year will be from June 2 – June 4th. The lineup of musicians this year are amazing and I will definitely see if I have time to attend. If you are down for a night of good music and fun time, you should get your tickets to Governors Ball now because I am sure you’ll have an unforgettable weekend.
  • Scooper Bowl World Tour– There is going to be an all you can eat ice cream event in Bryant Park this summer and I know I am going to attend since who can say no to ice cream? From June 1-3, there will be an all you can eat ice cream festival so get your tickets now before they sell out!
  • New York City Craft Beer Festival– Beer festivals are such fun events to attend in New York City. NYC Craft Beer Festival’s mission is to give you the opportunity to taste a large number craft selections, many seasonal, in one place at one time. I’m not a huge alcohol drinker but I’d love to attend because this is a great excuse to try beer and have fun with friends while doing so.

Let me know what you look forward the most if you are in NYC. If you are from another city, is there a favorite event that takes place in the summer that you love?

    • There's always so much happening in the city during the summer so I love researching to see what's going on!

    • Yes it's a wonderful way to start the weekend and welcome summer!

  • Apparently I go to NYC at the wrong times because I have never heard of any of these! Out of all, the Gay Pride parade and Smorgasburg seem like the must fun to attend! I love to eat and also love hanging around gays. They're some of the coolest people to be around!

    • I'm sure you would definitely enjoy them :) Maybe the next time you are here, the timing will work out!

    • Haha, I have the biggest sweet tooth so I can never say no to ice cream.

  • Hun, we just have to meet up when I'm there in July! It's a pity I'll miss NYC Pride, as I've never attended, but I'd love to one day. The Smorgasburg sounds fun too (you know, Swedish connection to the name and all, haha). But yeah, like I said, you've gotta show me around :)
    Love,
