Sustainability might be a buzz word or a trend but I truly believe there is a more conscious effort in consumers’ purchasing habits especially when it comes to beauty products. I am extremely grateful to receive PR mailings and I always try the products before recommending them. Over the last few months, I have been reviewing sustainable beauty finds and I’m excited to include five products that I have absolutely fallen in love with.
Conscious Coconut is a social enterprise fueled by love. We are committed to giving everyone the tools to live their healthiest, happiest lives.
Not only are they a company that prides itself in supporting fair trade practices, but the coconut tubes are also packaged by adults with mental and developmental disabilities at the MacDonald Training Center located in Tampa, Florida. For every product sold, Conscious Coconut also donates a meal to a child in need through Feeding America food banks.
As far as the coconut oil itself, it is made using the traditional cold-pressed method, without the use of heat, pressure, or machinery. As a result, CoCo is never exposed to any harsh or toxic chemicals. In terms of sustainability, the company uses a laminate aluminum (toothpaste) tube which allows you to work with it in all consistencies. The tube and sustainable bamboo lid are both recyclable and the box is made of recycled paper.
There are many uses and benefits of Coconut Oil including:
– Face wash
– Hair conditioner
– Oil pulling!
– Use is as a replacement for toothpaste
– Face & body moisturizer
– Make up remover
– Treatment for scars and infections
-Light sun protection or after sun care
-Itch relief
-Shaving cream
Davids was founded with one vision….create the highest quality premium natural toothpaste with a commitment to sustainability…the sustainability of nature, the sustainability of American jobs, and the sustainability of your health…the sustainability of nature+america+you
Davids Toothpaste is made using the highest quality naturally sourced and naturally derived ingredients to safely & effectively whiten teeth, fight plaque, and freshen breath. Proudly Made in the USA, Davids natural toothpaste has been thoughtfully designed with sustainability at the forefront of your daily routine. The collection is vegan, leaping bunny certified, fluoride free, recyclable and not to mention a beautifully designed addition to your bathroom sink.
I love that there are different flavors including:
-peppermint
-peppermint + charcoal
– spearmint
-herbal citrus peppermint
My personal favorite is the peppermint because I think it’s classic, but honestly, they are all wonderful!
HERB + FLORA is an ode to life, to beauty, to achievement. We leverage the advanced science of energy and performance, combined with the power of botanicals, to create holistic clean beauty products that mimic the effects of exercise on skin, hair and nails and help people get to their own finish line every single day, feeling beautiful, healthy, balanced.
Formulated with clinically tested, precision-engineered naturally derived active ingredients, their formulas are
vegan and clean, free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, mineral oil, formaldehydes and synthetic dyes.
The company also aims to drive sustainability through their own operations, as well as those of their suppliers. Most of their product packaging is either recyclable, refillable or made of recycled material as you can tell from their packaging and bottles in the above photos. I am a fan of EYE OF THE CYCLOPS Recovery Eye Gel – Lines Bags Circles and their THE POTION Youth Recovery Serum – Renewing + Anti-Fatigue.
The Potion Serum helps accelerate skin’s daily recovery and reveal a smooth, renewed complexion without irritation and the EYE OF THE CYCLOPS helps stimulate skin recovery in the delicate eye area without irritation and minimize the look of crow’s feet, under-eye bags and dark circles. I have sensitive skin and I have to admit that since I’ve incorporated both products into my skincare regime, I haven’t had any reactions and have seen my skin more plump and radiant!
Our kind of eco is high performance haircare for all. We have a desire to upcycle existing materials and make good on our promise to do what we can for the planet.
Upon receiving the products, I was immediately drawn to their packaging because it is like nothing I’ve ever seen. All of their packaging is 100% recycled including the bottle and cap. Over 90% of their ingredients are naturally derived and have been dermatologist approved. In addition, their products are vegan, cruelty free and they are a member of the international movement 1% For the Planet, and donate 1% of their gross sales each year to great environmental causes, helping to preserve and restore our planet for tomorrow.
I have been using their shampoo and conditioner for the past two months and every time I come out of the shower and blow dry my hair, I can tell my hair has volume and looks healthy, which supports their claim for their Volume & Boost line!

Yes Jennifer! These brands are awesome and I'm so happy to incorporate them into my daily routine.
The shampoo looks so chic, haha love the design of the bottles! It sounds great too! Xx
The packaging is unique! I also like their font as it really stands out from other brands :)
Conscious Coconut sounds absolutely awesome - I love that they hire people with disabilities too!
YES! I was so happy to hear that because I think what a company does on their end and who they support makes a huge difference in how I perceive them.
Very cool!! I'm still slightly in the dark when it comes to sustainable beauty brands/products. I love beauty blogs because that's where I really get to learn about new products and brands that are genuinely trying to make a difference. Thank you for doing the research and sharing brands that you feel are worth sharing! I haven't heard of these brands but the Herb + Flora beauty products you recommend here are intriguing! I'd love to look into it more!

Hey Mariann,
Thanks for these useful and detailed recommendations! As you I am trying to find brands with a sustainable approach or if they collaborate in any cause (vegan, not used in animals, produced with small communities, etc.) and there are plenty of options in the market!
I didn't know any of these brands but taking them into account and saving the post on my beauty folder! The HERB+FLORA design just caught my eye!
