THREE SIMPLE WAYS TO ADD COLOR TO YOUR WARDROBE

Everybody loves the color black and maybe it’s because I’m from New York, but it’s a stereotype that we all wear black here. I have nothing against the color and I actually think it’s a great color for people to wear because it’s safe, classic and even slimming. However, if you know my style and follow me on Instagram, you will know that I’m a huge fan of colors because I think it’s a great way to stand out especially if you are in the line of work as me, which would be blogging. I attend a lot of social events and even if I tend to stick with more neutrals, I like to add a bit of color here and there.

People who love the color black or neutrals often stray away from colors so I am not encouraging you to go out and buy a bright colored dress or jacket, but I am hoping that these three simple ways will help you get out of your comfort zone and play a little with adding color to your wardrobe.

  1. Bright Colored Shoes: We all know that a nice pop of color can help elevate your outfit. I wanted to show you how I am transforming this outfit from bland to bam with the simple use of my bright red heels from Stylewe. I can guarantee that if you wear some bright heels you will definitely turn heads and it honestly makes you feel like a badass woman.

  2. Clothing piece with print: This skirt might be a little too funky for some of you but the key is to keep everything else neutral. That means you can tone down the outfit by wearing a plain top like I have with this black turtleneck from Stylewe. Feel free to also wear black heels so the outfit doesn’t seem too overwhelming, but I decided to stick with red heels because I thought it tied the outfit together. You can also see that I decided to keep a neutral top with the other outfit as I wore this fall appropriate sweater with the lovely slit details on the side.
  3. Accessories: Another easy way to add some color to your wardrobe is through accessories. Since it’s getting chillier as we transition into November, you can easily wear a bright colored scarf, beanie, gloves, etc. You can also rely on your lipstick color and jewelry for easier ways to make your outfit pop.

How would you describe your style? Do you embrace color or do you stray away from it? I can respect everybody’s choice of style because I think it’s very telling of their personality and personal taste, but I think it’s also fun to try and challenge yourself every now and then and play with your wardrobe.

    • Thank you Areli! And yes lipstick is such an easy way to draw more attention to your outfit :)

  • I have actually been a fan of sticking to neutrals but this fall season I too have been adding color to my wardrobe. All the reds of this season have me updating my closet and to be honest, it is refreshing! I love wearing a little color now and I agree with your points. Adding color slowly like to accessories, shoes, etc. is a great way to start. Love that multi-colored skirt and those red pumps! xoxo, Christine

    • I don't think there's anything wrong with neutrals especially if that's your style. I do think it's fun to add some bright colored items to your outfit just to make it pop. And accessories are such a easy way to do so!

  • These tips are easy and hence there's no excuse for people not to use color anymore, at all! :) As for me, I love color, but find that I don't use it often enough. Then again, I was walking around town in a bright blush pink jacket today, so I guess I sometimes underestimate the amount of color I actually do use, but I definitely want to use more than just that, so thanks for encouraging me to do so! :)

    • Color is fun to play with so I think it's always a good idea to explore and try to add some bright colored pieces to your outfit :)

    • The skirt is actually not from Stylewe. I bought it at Hong Kong so it's definitely a rare find!

  • I love this quick 3 tips babe!! I have to say I love wearing colors either in the shoes or the accessories!!! LOVE all the outfits and how you play with texture and colors.

  • Can we talk about how gorgeous that skirt is?! I love it!!! I’m also loving those shoes and the tips you’ve shared here. I’ve always been one to love and embrace color in my outfits, but I know it can be a bit much for some, these tips are perfect for encouraging one to step out and embrace a touch of color! Thanks for sharing and have a great week, girl!
