TORONTO, CANADA 2016

I took a four day trip getaway to Toronto with two of my friends this past weekend and it was an incredible experience. I am more of an international travel gal who prefers to explore more of Europe, Asia and South America, but I decided I should pay a visit to one of the friendliest countries in the world. I must say that the stereotype that Canadian people are polite and nice is very accurate. I didn’t know what to expect for this trip, but it was a decent trip nonetheless and one that I would recommend to take.

We stayed in Toronto towards the downtown area and that’s where a lot of the action and traffic happens. However, it is nothing like New York City. There were barely people outside and it was even difficult to catch a cab. We explored the downtown area and went to Historic Distillery District,  Kensington Market and Steam Whistle Brewing. Of course a trip to Canada wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Niagara Falls, so we dedicated a day trip for that.

I visited Iguazu Falls in Argentina, so it was very similar since both of the sights are waterfalls. I didn’t think it would be anything spectacular but I was definitely wrong. It was very beautiful and the town was cute and peaceful. I definitely felt like I was in the suburbs and the country because I was surrounded by nature. You can see my photos of the falls in the gallery above.

I was a bit bummed that St. Lawrence market was closed on Sundays because that was the day I planned to visit. I would suggest for those who are planning a trip to check the hours of attractions and then plan your itinerary accordingly. I still enjoyed Kensington Market because it was a very urban and hip neighborhood with cute cafes and shops.

Overall, I think if you want to plan a trip that’s nice and within a great budget, consider Canada! People have such great manners and the U.S. dollar actually goes pretty far, so you won’t be spending as much as the price is in Canadian dollars. I also think it’s good to spend at least 3-4 days so you can visit Niagara Falls, explore downtown and shop around.
