Off the shoulders was the trend this past summer, bombers were all over Instagrams this autumn and now we are loving velvet for the winter! I have been a huge fan of velvet for the past few years and actually owned and worn velvet dresses during previous holidays. I also have noticed that the velvet trend normally revolves around darker colors such as burgundy, bright, blue, forest green and black. I love those rich colors because I think they look good on every skin tone and they’re usually head turning outfits, especially in velvet material.

So here’s a fun fact that most of you don’t know. My mom used to work for a factory and is pretty skilled with making clothing from scratch. Recently, she decided to take on sewing and creating again, so I gave her a skirt that I already owned for measurement purposes and she created the skirt I am wearing in today’s blog post. How cool is that?? It looks simple, but I am still pretty impressed by the outcome. I also love the fact that she made it even though I am sure you can find this in Forever 21 or H&M. I think this skirt is perfect for this season because I can style it in many ways since it is black. I am definitely trying to get her to make me a burgundy velvet dress, so I can show it off for a holiday party.

I have also created a few of my favorite velvet items that I love and plan to purchase this month. (*Disable adblock so you can view it below). As you can see, all of these are different in terms of style including skater skirt, bodycon dress, midi dress, causal dress and party dress.

Let me know which one is your favorite and if you own any velvet clothing!
