Winter is finally here, and this means one thing when it comes to your skincare– you’ll have to step up your routine as much as you can, since the colder weather is likely to decrease your skin’s moisture levels and therefore make it feel dry and irritated. If you want to prevent that this winter, just stay with us and keep on reading. Here’s a winter skincare routine for dry skin you mustn’t miss!
The first step in your skincare routine should be cleansing, as it’s essential for keeping your skin healthy and luminous. Some people actually advocate using two cleansers instead of just one, especially when it comes to girls with dry and sensitive skin. The first one should be oil-based, since such a product can dissolve the bad stuff, like dirt and makeup residue, which is pretty much impossible when talking about water-based cleansers.
Besides that, a cleanser that’s rich in oil will nourish and soften your dry skin, which is a huge plus during winter. Burt’s Bees facial cleansing oil is a great product that’ll do the trick for your dry skin. The second type of a cleanser is a hydrating creamy one, which won’t just thoroughly cleanse your skin, but also moisturise it without applying the actual moisturiser.
Even though it may sound a bit contradictory, dry skin also needs proper exfoliation on a weekly basis. This step is often linked to summer and those days when your skin feels sweaty and a bit dirty, but trust us – a gentle scrub should be at the top of your must-have list during winter as well.
The fact is that dry skin can’t get rid of the dead skin cells as efficiently as oilier complexions, which is exactly why exfoliating is vital for brighter appearance. So, use your favourite scrub at least once a week and you’ll see a major difference, since it’ll allow your other face products to deeply absorb into your skin and nourish it from within. Just remember not to overdo it, because it can leave your skin vulnerable to the harmful sun’s rays. That’s why you should better go for it at night, before bedtime.
Moisturiser is another essential product you simply mustn’t skip this winter, especially if you have dry skin that tends to become even drier and tighter due to the cold winter weather. A rich cream is an absolute must, since it can lock in the moisture and keep your skin nourished all day long, without making it feel uncomfortably tight.
There are some effective Ultraceuticals products that can maintain your skin’s optimum hydration levels, such as the Ultra Moisturiser Cream rich in vitamin E that will undoubtedly leave your skin soft and perfectly hydrated. You should also make sure to pick fragrance-free products, as artificially added scents and fragrances are also likely to dry out your skin and make it look and feel flaky and lifeless.
A concentrated serum is also a necessity during winter, particularly for women with dry and sensitive skin that really needs extra care as soon as the cold weather kicks in. This product is your skin’s major source of nourishment simply because it’s concentrated, which means that it can penetrate much deeper into your skin and nourish it to the max.
Dry and dehydrated skin requires hyaluronic acid which is a top-notch ingredient that retains water and moisture and can actually hold up to almost 1000 times its weight in water. It allows your skin cells to hold on to their water content, which results in plumper and firmer skin every woman craves for. Just remember to look for a formula made specifically for sensitive skin, since that’s the only way to give your skin exactly what it needs.
As you can see, these four steps are more than essential if you want to take proper care of your skin this winter. Make sure you take all of them, one at a time, and you’ll see a fantastic improvement that’ll completely sweep you off your feet!

I try to exfoliate every now and then, but securing a winter skincare routine is definitely more of a challenge for me than the summer.
Think we all have dry skin problems if we live in cold weather. Moisturizing is always a must. Thanks for sharing.

Exfoliating, cleansing, toning, and moisturizing are crucial steps in my skincare routine. I actually don't suffer from dry skin much -- I am on the oily side haha so I always need to find mattifying products! Great steps darling xo, sharon
